POTTER TO WEAVE HIS MAGIC IN LEOPARDSTOWN OPENER: Willie Mullins looks set for another good day at Leopardstown this afternoon.
Space Cadet is the proverbial ‘yardstick’ horse and it’s easy to see why Potters Point has attracted support in the BETDAQ market for the opening maiden hurdle at Leopardstown this afternoon.
Space Cadet has finished runner-up in his last four races and just seems to be one-paced in the closing stages of his races. As consistent as he is – I must look elsewhere.
Potters Point was the easy winner of a Punchestown bumper last May and finished third on his hurdling debut at Navan in November. He went off an even money favourite for that race but there wasn’t too much wrong with his effort, given that the winner Woodland Opera has gone on to finish third in a Grade 2 here at Leopardstown and the runner-up, Coney Island, won his next start easily.
Willie Mullins may well go on to win the Foxrock Cup Hurdle at 3.00 too with Great Field who is still unexposed after wins in France. He has been entered up at Cheltenham suggesting he has a decent future.
