CAN’T DECIDE WHICH CHOCOLATE SO ONE OF EACH
Get used to more racing. Note: I didn’t say BETTER racing (at least not yet) but six race meetings on Monday and it isn’t even a Bank Holiday !!
Evening racing starts in earnest with (of course) Windsor on a Monday night, Huntingdon and Dundalk for all-weather fans.
Something for everyone and just like when presented with a box of chocolates DAQMAN can’t decide which one to pick so it has to be a case of one of each !!
Here are my best bets for all meetings in chronological order for you to follow through the (long) day.
HEXHAM 3.00: HEAVY GROUND RACER
Hexham tweeted a picture this morning of the course looking quite resplendent in Spring sunshine but that masks the real issue for punters which is that the ground remains HEAVY.
Safe to say we can expect some exaggerated distances this afternoon as the course can take some staying especially on the hilly approach before the turn for home.
The maiden hurdle at 3.00 looks set to be fought out by Conquer Gold and Ryedale Racer who is preferred.
Both were beaten favourites last time out but Ryedale Racer has winning bumper form here on heavy ground and has a little more experience than the mare.
NEWTON ABBOT 3.20: 7,280 REASONS FOR NICHOLLS
The trainer’s championship looks set to go to the wire at Esher on Saturday but Nicholls will be keen to make a great start to the week to continue his good work from the weekend.
No stone will be left unturned and Dormello Boy can contribute £7,280 to the Ditcheat fund by taking the novices’ chase at Newton Abbot. A reproduction of his second to the odds-on Fox Norton at Cheltenham last time out should easily be good enough.
PONTEFRACT 4.10: FAHEY’S SLICE OF THE CAKE
Richard Fahey has made a solid enough start to the new season and can strike at Ponty with Dacoity.
He was placed on all three starts as a two-year-old and we know he handles the expected soft ground.
The stable won this race last year.
WINDSOR 4.50: EXPERIENCE THE KEY
The benefit of a run is worth a lot at this stage of a the season for the two-year-olds – especially as the going at Windsor tonight is heavy in places.
In the opener at 4.50 I’ll go with To Have A Dream and Fastnet Spin against the field.
Both showed only moderate form on debut at Kempton but the hope is that the experience will have brought them on a ton and that there is nothing exceptional amongst the debutants.
HUNTINGDON 5.40: THE WINNER? LET’S HOPE SO
A big field but as often is the case in races likes there’s not too much strength in depth.
Let’s Hope So was impressive for my money when winning a Uttoxeter bumper over a year ago and could easily be good enough to make a winning hurdling debut here for Emma Lavelle.
DUNDALK – WILL LEAVE TO SHAMROCK
I couldn’t possibly eat the last chocolate in the box could I ??? I’ll leave Dundalk to colleague SHAMROCK.
DAQMAN’S BETS (staked 1 to 9 for strength)
BET 8pt win (nap) RYEDALE RACER (3.00 Hexham)
BET 7pt win DORMELLO BOY (3.20 Newton Abbot)
BET 4pt win DACOITY (4.10 Pontefract)
BET 3pt win on both TO HAVE A DREAM and FASTNET SPIN (4.50 Windsor)
BET 3 pt win LET’S HOPE SO (5.40 Huntingdon)
