ROSCOMMON ON MONDAY: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the eight race mixed card at Roscommon on Monday which starts at 5.30pm.
Munaashid showed enough in two starts last season to suggest that a win in maiden company should be well within his grasp.
He has that opportunity tonight at Roscommon in the ten furlong maiden at 6.30pm.
Dermot Weld’s horses are continuing to run well and are also well forward so the 244 day absence isn’t a concern for me.
Munaashid was a promising sixth on debut in a big field maiden won by Hit It A Bomb who went on to win his next two races including, most notably, the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Keeneland.
Munaashid improved on his debut run to finish third to Idaho at the Curragh and that winner went on to finish third in the Epsom Derby so he really has been mixing it at the top table.
Benny Paret is closely matched on debut form (the pair were 5th and 6th) but he didn’t seem to improve as much for his second start.
