DAQMAN FIGURES OUT 5-4 NAP: Daqman hit the traps running yesterday with a winning nap in the very first race at Ffos Las, Maths Prize (WON 5-4). Today he finds some nifty win and place bets at 9.0 and 8.8 (twice) at Bath, Catterick and Lingfield. The nap is at Sandown tonight.

BIG RACE IS EASY AS ABC: First of all, Daqman presents his ABC check of the runners – how they fit the stats and facts – for Saturday’s King George V1 and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.

SATURDAY’S KING GEORGE ABC GUIDE

4.15 Ascot, Saturday (King George and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, 1m 4f) This is how the stats work out, using the following key:

A: Aged 4 (they lead 3yo 12-4 this century)
B: Officially rated 115-128
C: Winner trained Gosden/O’Brien/Stoute
D: Two or three starts only in his year
E: Won a Group race
X: Stable in form

ABCDEX Dartmouth

Completed a hat-trick (and has won seven from 11) over CD in the Hardwicke Stakes at the royal meeting, following on the John Porter and the Ormonde, stepping up 17lb overall.

But he’s 41lb higher than his first handicap win in May 2015, marking him down as yet another huge improver in the hands of racing’s horse-whisperer, Sir Michael Stoute.

ABCDEX Highland Reel

Runner-up a head to Dartmouth at Ascot, the Galileo colt has won his Group/Grade-1 races on firmish ground at Sha-tin (Hong Kong Vase) and in America (Secretariat Stakes at Arlington).

But a nearly horse in England and Ireland; fifth in each of the Irish Derby and Irish Champion Stakes in 2015. Fourth to Postponed at Meydan in March.

ABDEX Erupt

After a four-timer last year, completed in the Group-1 Grand Prix de Paris, Erupt ran a fine fifth, just behind Treve, in Golden Horn’s Arc.

Has flopped on extremes of going (firm and heavy) but came back to form on good ground when runner-up in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud.

ACEX Sir Isaac Newton

Beaten only marginally more than a couple of lengths in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot last year, finally struck form at this year’s royal meeting, winning the Wolferton Handicap, and following up in a Curragh Group 3, only now getting his head together.

BCE Western Hymn

Sandown Classic Trial winer in 2014 and back-to-back Group-3 successes there a year later in the Spring of 2015. But only placed in those same races in 2016 and his now up two furlongs after 1m 2f form of 3322230.

BDEX Postponed MISSES RACE
CE Wings Of Desire

Never happy on the ground, or with the Epsom undulations, Wings of Desire still managed fourth in the Derby. One behind him, Red Verdon, improved in the Irish Derby, and Frankie Dettori will be looking for the ride that won them the Dante Stakes at York from Belmont Derby winner, Deauville. Though a Pivotal, Wings Of Desire’s best form to date is on a firm surface.

CX Shogun

Has not won since breaking his maiden; always a bad sign. Third in the Craven, second in the Derrinstown Derby Trial; fifth in the Irish 2,000 Guineas. Tailed off Epsom Derby, weakened from the front in Irish version.

DEX Second Step

A handicapper as a three-year-old with seeming big step up to start 2015 by winning the Jockey Club Stakes (Group 2) but the form flattened out after; and a good seven lengths behind Postponed in the Coronation Cup in June among five consecutive defeats.

DX Ajman Bridge

Another who hasn’t scored since the start of his career nearly three years ago now. Year-long bridesmaid role (form figures 220232 in handicaps) and rating has been dropped to a mark 25lb below Postponed.

NIFTY MOVE TO NAB 8.8 ON BETDAQ

3.50 Lingfield Leading Lingfield rider Luke Morris is back on board his Wolver winner, Judicial Enquiry, visored first time by Ed Walker. Walker and Morris are 50% when combining in races like this on today’s course: 9.0 offers on BETDAQ as I write.

4.40 Bath Claimed-off Nifty Kier is 7lb lower than when winning a division of this race a year ago on similar firm ground. Tasty at 8.8 on BETDAQ early mouse.

One of the three-year-olds, The Greedy Boy (down a grade) or Wassail (hooded first time), may be involved at the business end. The market says it will be The Greedy Boy (saver).

5.00 Catterick Tim Easterby has won this race four times, including last year with Captain Dunne, who has his ideal conditions today, and Rachel Richardson returns to the saddle. Win and place at 8.8 on BETDAQ.

6.30 Sandown Bernie’s Boy (a 4.3 BETDAQ offer) ran well on the last day after a break and gets in lightly here as a three-year-old, with Andrew Balding in form, seven of his last nine runners in the first four.

8.05 Sandown Who is leading Flat trainer today in the Racing Post’s excellent Trainerspot guide, with 17 horses place out of 24? The answer is Jumps trainer Alan King.

His four-year-old William Hunter (4.9 BETDAQ best) looks progressive against the bridesmaid Life Less Ordinary and class-5 horse Atalan.

William Hunter’s biggest headache may be Touch The Sky, a CD winner in today’s grade in today’s conditions.
