PREMIER LEAGUE MONDAY PREVIEW: Just the one game on Monday. It’s Sunderland v Everton. The hosts are looking for their first league win of the season.
Sunderland v Everton
8pm Monday Night Football returns with David Moyes’ Sunderland facing his old club Everton who have started the season strongly under Ronald Koeman. Everton have put in three solid performances with wins against Stoke and West Brom, with an hard earned draw against Spurs on the opening day of the season – they haven’t been banging in the goals though and Sunderland will no doubt improve at the back under Moyes, so we expect a low scoring game here.
Moyes is far more likely to be appreciated more at Sunderland with his defensive tactics than an Old Trafford, and they did well to hold Southampton to 1-1 before the International break – a similar showing here should keep Everton at bay for most of the game and we feel that under 2.5 is the value here at 1.86. Everton have started the season solidly at the back too, only conceding twice in their three games.
In the match odds market you’d probably pick out a Sunderland lay as the value at around 3.8 – Everton are priced up at 2.2 while the draw is trading 3.5. We see Everton winning 1-0 or 2-0 here and those scorelines are worth checking in the Correct Score market closer to kick off.
