KERRY NATIONAL DAY: SHAMROCK has a win and place in the big race at Listowel and stays on the same card for his NAP in a flat race.
Third place from the NAP on Tuesday, Strait Of Zanzibar.
Feature race of the week at Listowel with the Guinness Kerry National Handicap Chase and it’s going to be a real slog for the 21 runners on heavy ground.
Your Busy won this two years ago but it’s hard to see him featuring again as he is now a thirteen-year-old and it was the polar opposite ground when he caused a 25/1 shock.
Killer Crow is a win and place offering in an ultra competitive race. The Gordon Elliott trained seven-year-old has winning form on heavy ground and warmed up for this with a close second to Plinth over hurdles at Kilbeggan last time out.
He’s struggled in some of the bigger handicaps – 11th of 22 in the Galway Plate and 7th of 27 in the Irish Grand National but I think he will perform much better in the mud. The last time he ran with heavy in the going description he finished second in a Grade A handicap chase at Leopardstown.
For the NAP, Love In The Sun looks a good bet in the 1m 1f flat handicap at 2.30. The Dermot Weld trained runner already has proven form on testing ground and still looks more than capable of finding further improvement.
I was genuinely surprised to see him trading at as big as 2.66 at lunchtime on BETDAQ.
