CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WEDNESDAY: We preview three Group stage games on Wednesday with a recommended BETDAQ bet: Arsenal v FC Basel, Atletico Madrid v Bayern Munich and Celtic v Man City.
Arsenal v FC Basel
7.45pm Fresh off their hammering of Chelsea here the weekend, Arsenal will be looking to do the same against FC Basel in their first competitive meeting. But at odds of around 1.4 for Arsenal to win, we’re happy to look around for some extra value. Especially considering Basel have a good record against English clubs, and a good goal scoring record too.
Basel are unbeaten away from home in England in the Champions League, and have also never failed to find the net against English opposition. Over 2.5 goals is tempting at 1.6 as Arsenal’s Champions League games are usually packed with goals, they’ve scored at least twice in their last seven home group games, while they’ve lost just three of their last 38 home group games. We expect goals here and we feel the 1.6 offers more value than the Arsenal win.

Atletico Madrid v Bayern Munich
7.45pm Undoubtedly the highlight of Match Day 2 here as we see a re-run of last years Semi-Final clash, which saw Atletico progress. Their defending in the Champions League has always been their key to success and they have some of the most impressive stats in the competition – clean sheets in 10 of their last 12 Champions League group games is something that most teams wouldn’t get close to, and they’ve lost just once in their last 17 home Champions League matches, winning 13 – considering the opposition another highly impressive feat.
Bayern are currently favourites for this one at 2.6 while Atletico are trading 3.15, Bayern themselves have some impressive Champions League stats – having won 19 of their last 23 group games, but we feel that the odds should be closer together for this one and Bayern shouldn’t be so short considering Atletico’s defending. Under 2.5 goals is tempting at 1.62 but we marginally prefer the Bayern lay at 2.6.

Celtic v Manchester City
7.45pm You can forgive any football fan for thinking that Celtic are like lambs to the slaughter here after Barcelona thrashed them 7-0 on Match Day 1. City also dished out a beating to Mgladbach and Pep Guardiola’s men should comfortably beat Celtic here – it is more a question of how many they can score.
The pace at which Guardiola has City breaking is scary good and with that in mind here, and considering how much of the ball they should see, there’s no reason to think that City wont be able to find the net a few times here and we believe they can cover the -1.5 handicap. It’s currently priced at around the 2.0 mark and we feel that offers massive value.
