DUNDALK GROUP 3 ACTION: SHAMROCK previews the Group 3 Diamond Stakes at Dundalk tonight.
A Friday treat at Dundalk with the Group 3 Diamond Stakes which has attracted a field of eight.
The market leaders have an excellent recent record in the race and the Aidan O’Brien globetrotter Long Island South heads the BETDAQ betting.
He won his first two races here at Dundalk before stepping up in class and has run with great credit since with a third in the Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot and finishing runner-up to Beach Patrol in the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes at Arlington in August.
He understandably has been given a break since then but still should prove hard to beat at Group 3 level.
Jim Bolger’s Qatari Hunter won four handicaps in a row which saw his mark hiked 22lb and showed he could cut it at this level by finishing fourth at Glorious Goodwood in the Gordon Stakes. He was third in a maiden here and is the danger to the selection.
