SATURDAY PREMIER LEAGUE: We preview Saturday’s games between Watford v Everton, Arsenal v Stoke, Burnley v Bournemouth, Hull v Crystal Palace, Swansea v Sunderland and the late kick-off Leicester v Man City.
Watford v Everton
12.30pm The early kick off this week sees two struggling sides meet, with Watford losing three of their last four and Everton winning just one game in their last nine in the league. You’d have to say that Everton were very lucky to come away from Old Trafford with a point last weekend and it’s very difficult to make a case to back them at 2.52 here. They’ve lost their last three away from home and given that Watford have a reasonably decent record at home this season, laying Everton here seems to be the obvious value call to start the weekend. Over 2.5 goals has to be of interest too, given that Watford have only had one clean sheet from their last 12 home games, and that’s currently trading 1.85. We prefer to lay Everton though as they continue to struggle to find form.

Arsenal v Stoke
3pm Arsenal will come into this one on a high after surprisingly finishing top of their Champions League Group winning 4-1 against Basel with PSG slipping up. They’ve now scored nine goals in their last two games and Stoke will be in for a tough afternoon at the Emirates. Stoke will be no pushovers though as they arrive in solid form, and have especially improved at the back keeping four clean sheets from their last seven – given the way they were defending at the start of the season, that’s quite a turnaround. Arsenal are unbeaten in 13 though and seem to be hitting peak form, it will be interesting to see how they handle the busy Christmas period but we don’t see Stoke stopping them in their tracks here. Arsenal are trading around 2.1 -1.5 goals and that appeals as a shade of value.

Burnley v Bournemouth
3pm Bournemouth arrive to face Burnley off one of the comebacks of the season against Liverpool and have now moved into the top half of the table after winning two of their last three. Burnley meanwhile sit down in 15th after losing their last three, however they do have a decent record at home – they’ve beaten the likes of Liverpool, Everton and Watford. With Burnley conceding 11 in their last four games and Bournemouth seeing 11 goals in their last two games, add to this that Burnley have kept just three clean sheets all season – goals is the play here. Both Teams To Score is tempting at 1.86 however with over 2.5 goals trading odds against at 2.06, we feel that is the value.

Hull v Crystal Palace
3pm Crystal Palace ended a run of six losing games by shocking Southampton last weekend and winning 3-0, while Hull continue to struggle. They currently sit down in 19th and a 1-0 loss to Middlesbrough last weekend made in eight losses in their last ten games. Given Hull’s run of form you’d certainly be keen to be with Crystal Palace in the market at 2.38, however you couldn’t call them reliable. They’ve lost their last three away, while conceding 11 goals – if you go back further, they’ve won just two of their last 18 away. They have one of the worst records in the calendar year in the Premier League, so we cant commit to backing them at 2.38 even though they put in a decent performance last weekend. We’re happy to take a chance on the draw at 3.35, which appeals more than the Palace lay or the Hull back.

Swansea v Sunderland
3pm Sunderland have climbed up to 18th in recent weeks after wins against Leicester and Hull – the mood in the camp must be reasonably high after they seemed rooted to the bottom of the league and they should be more hopeful of staying up now than ever this season. They have a decent chance of getting more points here in what should be a huge game at the bottom of the table. Swansea currently sit in last two points behind Sunderland, if the hosts lose here, it will be a long way back. However, given they have shipped 16 goals in their last five games, we have to think that Sunderland have a great chance of getting a result here, and the 2.2 lay on Swansea appeals in what should be a reasonable even game.

Leicester v Manchester City
5.30pm You’d be lying if you said Leicester were having anything other than a terrible season and even though they rested players midweek in the Champions League, they were still slightly embarrassed losing 5-0. Their form in the Premier League has been terrible though, and recent defeats to Sunderland, Watford and West Brom would have to worry you. Can they go down? It would be some story after winning the league! With things tight at the bottom, they will have to handle the busy Christmas period well and pick up some points.
Things don’t start easily for them here though with the arrival of Manchester City. Pep Guardiola chose to rest key players midweek in the Champions League too, so they should have a fresh side coming into this. And while Leicester did the same, you’d have to say based on form this season that City are in a different league to Leicester. The 1.73 on City is too big to ignore and they can put Leicester into a relegation battle with an easy win here.
