7/2 WINNER ON DAY ONE: SHAMROCK started Cheltenham with a 7/2 WINNING NEXT BEST from just two bets when Apple’s Jade won the OLBG Mares’ Hurdle.
A great start for the Irish trained runners but the close of play score was hard to predict:
Gordon Elliott 3
Willie Mullins 0
If Mullins is still winnerless before the Queen Mother Champion Chase it will be interesting to see if layers get bold and try and tempt more Douvan backers in. Currently priced at 1.26 (at 12.40pm) if you want to compare prices later.
Douvan has won all five of his races since last year’s impressive Arkle win – the BIGGEST price he has gone off is 1/5 !!
He’ll be a similar price to that which Altior was yesterday and it wasn’t completely easy sailing for that one – easy in the end but Charbel’s fall changed the complex of the race at such a crucial stage.
Mullins might well of course be already on the scoreboard after the first. He saddles a quartet having had 20 entries at the four day stage for the Neptune.
Mullins and Walsh won this last year with Yorkhill and Walsh is today onboard Bacardys who beat better fancied stable companion Bunk Off Early at Leopardstown last time out.
But Gordon Elliott could again have a major say. His Shattered Love has been well backed on BETDAQ this morning and is my day two bet – win and place.
Shattered Love bids for a hat-trick after wins at Thurles and Fairyhouse where he romped home by 13 lengths with 18 lengths back to the third and with the stable in such good form Elliott can yet again prove a nemesis for Mullins.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Shattered Love WIN and PLACE (1.30 Cheltenham)
