EL CLASICO SUNDAY: We preview Sunday’s El Clasico – Real Madrid v Barcelona at the top of La Liga.
REAL MADRID V BARCELONA
7.45pm We have one of the most watched games in the world to enjoy on Sunday evening as Barcelona visit Real Madrid in the latest El Clasico. Usually it’s Barcelona who have the upper hand, however this year Real are currently three points ahead with a game in hand – so even a win for Barcelona here might not see them lift La Liga. The odds at the time of writing currently stand at; Real Madrid 2.16, Barcelona 3.4 and the draw is 4.1.
Barcelona haven’t looked themselves this season, especially away from home. They recently lost 2-0 away to Malaga at the start of the month who only sit 15th heading into this weekend, and were embarrassed away in the Champions League by PSG and Juventus. PSG collapsed at Camp Nou afterwards, however Juventus shown how to handle a 3-0 lead midweek and knocked Barcelona out. Messi missed a few easy chances that night and will want to respond here after a Ronaldo hat-trick got the job done for Real against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night. The debate for worlds best player will probably never end, but Ronaldo has the upper hand at the moment anyway.
Messi hasn’t scored in the last six El Clasico’s either, so he might not have the influence on the game that everyone expects tonight. Barcelona are without Neymar for this one too – while looking at the head-to-head here, Real have only lost twice in the last six. So Barcelona look more of a lay at 3.4 than a back.
It’s probably certain that we’ll get plenty of goals, however the market prices that in for these games, with over 2.5 goals 1.42 and over 3.5 goals 2.04. We don’t really see any value in those prices, everyone knows what scoring talents both sides have here. We feel the call is a Real win at 2.14 – they are in better form, have home advantage and with Barcelona being slightly under par this season, Ronaldo and co can take advantage.
