GROUP 3 ACTION AT LEOPARDSTOWN: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the Group 3 Meld Stakes at Leopardstown tonight.
Deauville is continuing to run well and deserves to pick up a prize like this having run a cracker in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out when third to Ribchester.
He was a winner when last competing at Group 3 level – that was in the Huxley Stakes at Chester where he made all the running.
The Grey Gatsby is closely matched with Deauville on official ratings and is having his second start for Dermot Weld having shaped well enough on his first start when fourth to Johannes Vermeer in a Group 3 at the Curragh. The overall form of the Weld stable continues to be a worry and the visor is fitted for the first time on The Grey Gatsby tonight so there are a couple of question marks and I’m not sure it will be Weld in the Meld.
Brendan Brackan is ultra-tough but all his recent wins have come with give in the ground.
