DAQMAN BIDS FOR FIVE SUPER NAPS: The Newmarket Cambridgeshire meeting launches today with two big bets from Daqman, a super nap and a bull’s-eye (win 50) bet. His super naps are currently four out of four. Stay with Daqman right through to the Arc meeting on Sunday. Every day is a big day’s racing.

El Hayem (Sir Michael Stoute) Cambridgeshire, 3.35 Newmarket, Saturday

Clemmie (Aidan O’Brien) Cheveley Park Stakes, 2.20 Newmarket, Saturday

Sands Of Mali (Richard Fahey) Middle Park Stakes, 2.55 Newmarket, Saturday

ANYTHING GOES FOR ELARQAM

2.00 Newmarket The Great Voltigeur and Hardwicke winner Telescope, and last year Eminent, due to reappear on British Champions Day next month, have both won this race.

The most interesting newcomer is Midi (Frankel-Midday), whose sister Mori was runner-up in this year’s Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot.

2.35 Newmarket Charlie Appleby, who has won this twice in the last four years, saddles Rastrelli, easy Brighton winner on good to soft. But it was similar ground when Global Conqueror ran up to highly-regarded The Revenant at Haydock.

3.10 Newmarket Summer Chorus, placed three times giving weight to the winner, gets no respite from the handicapper but on AW form at Chelmsford and Kempton holds Peak Princess, who in turn holds Parlance.

It has me thinking that First Dance needs only normal improvement on his four-lengths maiden romp at Kempton to have a big say in this.

3.45 Newmarket (Somerville Tattersalls Stakes) Team Hannon, which has a 50% strike rate in this since 2009, runs two.

Albishir steps down in trip but up in grade after leading until the very last stride at Salisbury, and Tangled, back-to-back winner in the summer, disappointed in a big sales race but it was won by a colt who’d earlier got within a length of Gustav Klimt on the July Course and been beaten by Tangled at York.

Another York winner was Elarqam (Frankel-Attraction), a 1.6 million guineas yearling, who has that ’could be anything’ look. I took 2.72 on BETDAQ.

IT’S A POWER SHOT AT THE BULL

4.20 Newmarket (Rose Bowl) Face The Facts? Well, the facts are that his trainer John Gosden has won this three years out of five, and – first run after being gelded – Face The Facts ran second on the soft to the smart Time To Study at Haydock.

In fact (!), it’s unusual to see three-year-olds in this race and, going back a dozen or more years, I can’t find that they’ve ever won it, though they also have the favourite today in UAE King, who has already won at this trip with cut in the ground.

The last time Nearly Caught dropped down from Group level, he won a Listed at Sandown, and Jukebox Jive will be hard to catch, after making all over further at Newbury (2m 2f, good to soft).

Higher Power dropped out of the Pattern for just one of his last four starts, and won the Northumberland Plate. Only 3lb higher and tongue-tied first time, he was worth a punt for a 50-point haul at 8.4 on BETDAQ this morning.

5.30 Newmarket Two old boys could have a say in this. CD-winner Knight Owl (16.0 on BETDAQ) hasn’t dropped below class 2 in 10 turf starts over more than two years.

And dual Cambridgeshire winner, Bronze Angel (25.0 BETDAQ offers), takes the same drop in class for the first time in 35 starts since May, 2012. The Warrior (9.8) is the main danger.
