THURLES NAP: SHAMROCK waits until the closing bumper on the Thurles card today for his nap running in the 5.30pm.
Joseph O’Brien is maintaining a very healthy strike-rate under both codes and can land the closing race at Thurles this afternoon with the four-year-old Us And Them.
He finished second to stable companion High Tide on debut at Leopardstown last season when the going was heavy – as it is today. Whilst the winner hasn’t done much for the form since, Us And Them finished 22 lengths clear of the third and it was a good debut.
He followed that effort up with a good fourth in a much better race at Fairyhouse won by Red Jack. Whilst only two miles today, it will be a real test of stamina in the ground which Us And Them should relish and he has been well supported in the early market moves.
The Gordon Elliott trained Rakhine State looks the danger after placed efforts at Ballinrobe and Clonmel.
