Monkshood won with plenty in hand at Downpatrick last time out on his hurdling debut and should be able to go back to back with a win at Fairyhouse this afternoon in the four runner novice hurdle over two and a half miles at 2.55pm.
The Gordon Elliott trained runner certainly still looks on an upward curve and can account for his more experienced rivals.
The Willie Mullins trained Minella Beau is consistent, having finished in the first two in all five of his starts, but has also proved costly to follow with defeats at 4/7, 4/9 and 6/4 on his CV. Also, his two wins have both come on good ground and it might be that the testing ground is not ideal.
Aeglos represents Joseph O’Brien and could be the biggest danger after a good effort at Galway last time over a similar trip. The Rory Story, who completes today’s quartet was last of the eight runners that day.
