BULL’S-EYE! 9-2 WINNER LANDS 50-POINT PUNT: Daqman plunged on a rare win-50 bull’s-eye bet on ordinary weekday racing at Kempton yesterday. He had more than nine points win on Sovereign Duke (WON 9-2) at 6.4 offers in the BETDAQ orange.

RATINGS SAY OSCAR TIP IS WILD

And the Oscar goes to.. Pricewise! He yesterday tipped a chaser, Finian’s Oscar, for the Stayers’ Hurdle at Cheltenham and, as if they were part of the act, punters followed his script and it halved in price for Cheltenham (March 15) to as short as 8-1 in places.

The last time Oscar ran over hurdles, in April, he achieved a rating of 151 (official) or 155 if you check out the RPR (Racing Post ratings).

Beneath the Pricewise article, the RPR spokesman reveals that Finian’s Oscar is on 155 against the favourite Apple’s Jade’s 167.

That puts Oscar 19th in the Post’s own ratings list for the race, showing just how wild the tip is..

In fact, the only horses to have run in the Stayers Hurdle in the last three years with such poor official ratings were At Fishers Cross (pulled up 33-1 and 4th 14-1) Aubusson (15th 50-1), Aux Ptit Soins (5th 16-1), Blue Fashion (12th 20-1), Bobs Worth (3rd 33-1), Jetson (9th 14-1), Martello Tower (7th 14-1), Knockara Beau (pulled up 100-1), Lieutenant Colonel (pulled up 33-1), Monksland (14th 14-1), Seeyouatmidnight (7th 16-1), Tiger Roll (13th 50-1), Un Temps Pour Tout (6th 9-1), Zaidpour (8th 66-1) and Zarkander (7th 25-1).

None of the above had run in a chase in its last race prior to the Stayers/World Hurdle and only Bobs Worth had a proper chase record.

The winners’ official ratings in the three years were Thistlecrack 168, Nichols Canyon 161 and Cole Harden 158.

Finian’s Oscar is likely to run in the RSA at Cheltenham (March 14) or the JLT (the following day), for which, under his entries, the Racing Post lists him as 8-1 and 6-1 respectively.

But, if you think you are price wise to stick to his chasing prospects in those two races, you can get 22-1 (RSA) and 19.5 (JLT).. on BETDAQ, of course

JOIN THE QUEUE FOR CRUSHED

12.30 Catterick Kingy’s crushed the layers! Alan King’s five winners in the last fortnight have included four successful favourites.

And his five career starters at Catterick have produced four winners. He’s 3-3 (100%) in juvenile hurdles races here. So Crushed is likely to start favourite – and win! – after a decent Flat record for William Haggas.

King’s only runner of the day is ridden by Wayne Hutchinson, who was on three of the four stable winners at Catterick, and is himself 4-7 on the course. Crushed was 2.94 on BETDAQ this morning.

1.30 Catterick Another traveller to the A1 venue is Venetia Williams, whose seven-year-old Un Prophete (3.4 offer) is more used to winning way out West at Exeter and at Ludlow.

Workbench is the obvious danger but is giving three years away to my selection. Well exposed after 33 chases to Un Prophete’s nine.

1.35 Clonmel Strictly on the book, Beyond The Law (22 lengths better than Allardyce at Limerick) beats Draconien (around 12 lengths better than Allardyce here at Clonmel earlier).

It may not work out that way but, with Draconien at 1.77 and Beyond The Law at 13.0 on BETDAQ, it’s worth a euro that it will.

3.25 Leicester Here’s a class-3 finale to Leicester, in which Balgemmois and Sleepy Haven have both won on their sole Leicester start.

There was only a neck between Balgemmois and Wind Place And Sho over CD in early December. Du Soleil, an earlier winner at Uttoxeter, didn’t jump out of the mud at Haydock on the last day, but was 5.6 favourite this morning on BETDAQ in a very open orange market.

Mr Antolini (7.4) switches to Nigel Twiston-Davies after being beaten less than half a length in a big field at Punchestown in October.

Lucy Wadham’s form with her jumpers this year is 132122, and 22.0 outsider Iconic Sky is a hidden horse – a grey mare, in fact – who has raced in better company at Ascot and Warwick, and went well enough under her 7lb claimer at Southwell (track didn’t suit).

DAQMAN’S BETS (to win 20)
BET 10pts win (nap) CRUSHED (12.30 Catterick)
BET 8.25pts win UN PROPHETE (1.30 Catterick)
