MUNSTER HURDLE AT CLONMEL: Irish racing resumes on heavy ground at Clonmel today with SHAMROCK’s nap running in the Munster Hurdle at 1.35pm.
Draconien returns to the scene of his 12 length maiden win and should follow up in the more competitive Munster Hurdle at 1.35pm.
Appropriately enough, the race he won last time was the ‘Next Meeting Thursday January 11th Maiden Hurdle’ and the French import couldn’t have been more impressive in beating Mighty Stowaway.
The much more experienced Brelade (rated 141) is the obvious one to beat but he doesn’t seem to be showing much sparkle.
He returns from five starts over the fences – and was a beaten favourite at 5/4 when third at Fairyhouse last time out.
A bigger danger may come from Brelade’s stablemate Poli Roi who was last of five in Grade 2 company at Navan last time but by no means disgraced. He led until just before the last in the race won by the hugely promising Next Destination.
