DAQMAN SUPERNAP WINS AT EVEN MONEY Daqman’s stunning big-race run peaked at 11 winning bets in nine days, taking him 8-1 up on Pricewise, but his naps powered on yesterday. Society Power (supernap WON 1-1) at Wolverhampton completed the following hat-trick:

WON 7-4 MENDELSSOHN (UAE Derby nap, Saturday)
WON (place nap) 2ND 8-1 LACKANEEN LEADER (from 20.0 BETDAQ, Sunday)
WON 1-1 SOCIETY POWER (supernap, Monday)

TODAY: Daqman checks out the gambles of the Grand National so far, prior to a stats and facts countdown to Aintree, starting on Thursday.

TOMORROW: But first Daqman updates his tipping and stakes strategy, geared from just a break-even, with one winner covering a day’s bets, right up to his huge recent run of 241 points from 24 winners in the nine days up to Sunday.

AINTREE: THE GAMBLES SO FAR

Two previous winning trainers with chances. Plus, inevitably, an Irish flyer. This is the punters’ dream trio for the Aintree Grand National thus far.

I’ll be looking at stats, facts and figures, and ‘hidden’ horse form in the run up to the big race on April 14.

And, of course, I will be doing my race-by-race analysis on the entire Aintree Festival meeting, day on day and, dare I say, winner after winner. We’ll see.

But we can’t win without confidence. Then the losers don’t count for long, as we’ve seen Daqman picking himself up from a drubbing at Cheltenham to steer home 11 big-race winners in nine days. Let’s have more where that came from.

2001F3 Anibale Fly (Tony Martin, in from 28-1 to 14-1 with bookies) now 14.0 on BETDAQ.

Fell heavily in the Irish Gold Cup, after winning the big Grade B chase at Leopardstown over Christmas, but came back to run the race of his life in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Stayed on steadily on the Cheltenham climb to the post, finishing third behind Native River and Might Bite.

202243 The Last Samuri (Kim Bailey, 40-1 to 14-1) now 19.5 on BETDAQ.

It’s a lifetime since Kim Bailey won the Grand National with Mr Frisk in 1990, and he’s had a few nearly horses along the way, like Harry Topper.

But I for one will always remember his near miss when The Last Samuri was second in 2016 because I was on the 33-1 winner, Rule The World.

Rain softened the ground that day or he might have finished closer, as he did when beaten only a length in the Becher Chase later the same year.

Down the field in last year’s National but second to Blaklion in the Becher and recently third in the Cross Country at the Cheltenham Festival.

P33412 I Just Know (Sue Smith, 80-1 to 33-1) now 36.0 on BETDAQ.

We’re also going a long way back to Jenny Pitman’s pathfinder days for women trainers in the Grand National (three winners, one disqualified) before the me-too ladies struck twice in the last five seasons.

Lucinda Russell scored with One For Arthur last year, foiling my personal gamble on Cause Of Causes, after Sue Smith had won in 2013 with Aurora’s Encore.

I Just Know is another who wants better ground, placed in eight of his 10 starts but coming into his own when stepped up to the 3m 6f of the North Yorkshire Grand National in January, making all in a ‘proper gallop’ for the race.

VIP LINGFIELD NAP

3.25 Lingfield A low grade affair but a rare opportunity to back the best horse in the race off the lowest weight!

That’s the case of The Jungle VIP who races off a mark of 69 and receives nearly two stone off Dundalk winner Carvelas.

Ratings can be misleading at this level but they’d need to be a mile out here for The Jungle VIP not to look a very good bet on BETDAQ at around 2.92 at the time of writing.

The Mark Johnston trained runner was only a modest fourth over this trip at Chelmsford but looking at his rivals here that starts to read a lot better, and the trainer does well with his few runners at the basement level.

4.25 Lingfield Buccaneers Vault ran well after a break when finishing fourth over six furlongs at Newcastle last time out out and should be ready to land a prize like this.

The grey’s rivals are largely out of form with the exception of Sandra’s Secret who is a course and distance winner on her only previous start here.

5.00 Lingfield Wolf Of Windlesham has been off the course for 472 days on the flat but the word from my man in the long grass is positive. He hasn’t been seen since finishing down the field in a Grade 3 handicap hurdle at Ascot in December 2016.

Stuart Edmunds has booked Jim Crowley and Wolf Of Windlesham is a horse that goes best fresh.

Best recent form is represented here by Le Torrent who was nibbled at in the market before scoring over two miles at Kempton last month.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 20):
BET 10.4pts win (nap) THE JUNGLE VIP (3.25 Lingfield)
BET 5.2pts win BUCCANEERS VAULT (4.25 Lingfield)
BET 5.7pts win WOLF OF WINDLESHAM (5.00 Lingfield)
