DREAMING OF A SUPERNAP
3.20 Newton Abbot Summer jumping card at Newton Abbot and this class 2 handicap hurdle looks very competitive – certainly more so than last year when Cleni Wells won and he is a big price to follow up in this company.
The Nicky Henderson trained Cultivator is up 2lb for a narrow win at Warwick last time out but might struggle to confirm form with the third placed Fidux on these revised terms.
Preference is for All Set To Go who is a class dropper and was by no means disgraced in the Swinton Hurdle at Haydock when fifth to Silver Streak – beaten just over 10 lengths.

6.00 Ayr It’s not often I consider a horse for the NAP, let alone SUPERNAP, who has finished stone last in his last TWO races but that’s the case today with Dream Today in the opener at Ayr.
Mark Johnston has his string in fine form at the moment and the Middleham stable must still be on a high after the superb second place run of Dee Ex Bee in the Derby on Saturday.
Whilst it’s fair to say that Dream Today hasn’t progressed since his winning debut at York, I also think it’s quite probable that he’s simply not been good enough to win the quality of races he’s been running in and should find this a lot easier – even with the penalty to defy.
His four races since York have all been at Group and Listed level and his best effort was at Newmarket last October when finishing second to Ghaiyyath in the Group 3 Autumn Stakes.
He was disappointingly last of nine in the Heron Stakes at Sandown Park on his seasonal reappearance but was hampered at the start and the run can, at least partly, be forgiven.
Rather than pick too many holes in his form it’s better to look at the modest quality of the race he is in tonight and his BETDAQ price is approaching even money at the time of writing which is worthy of SUPERNAP material.
Mount Ararat is the danger on the betting after a promising debut third at Newcastle (winner also won again since). But that run came on the all-weather and over a trip two furlongs longer than tonight so is a new set of conditions for Karl Burke’s runner.
6.30 Ayr Tim Easterby has his string in good form and Nuns Walk should claim an overdue success in the fillies handicap at 6.30pm.
I think the faster ground will suit her and she is out again quickly after finishing second to Socialites Red at Nottingham last week on soft ground.
She ran one of her best career races at Catterick on faster ground and is very much knocking on the door.
Jessie Allen finally came good when winning on her 41st start last time out but is likely to struggle here with the resulting 6lb penalty and is also 2lb out of the handicap.
