FAIR CHANCE MOUNTAIN WILL BE CLIMBED

It’s a jumps centric menu today with just two afternoon meetings at Bangor and Fontwell and evening cards from Southwell (jumps), Newcastle and Kilbeggan.

Just when we are all getting used to the flat season … whoosh there’s no flat turf action at all !!

2.30 Bangor The opener at Bangor is a match but thankfully the rest of the cards have held up strongly including this class 4 maiden hurdle.

Dan Skelton is currently enjoying a bright run of form with 6 winners from his last 24 runners and Fair Mountain is taken to boost that percentage further.

He had plenty of class on the flat when trained in his native Germany and was sent off an even money favourite for his hurdling debut at Ludlow but could only finish second to Takbeer who made all the running and it looked definitely a case of all of his rivals giving the 25/1 shot far too much rope.

With the benefit of experience he should start paying his way over hurdles.

There’s a couple of interesting ones in opposition which help make the market.

The David Pipe trained Delirant won a Grade 1 bumper in France but has been off the course for 557 days since and he is drifting in early morning exchanges.

Secret Escape is the most experienced but also the most exposed and was hugely disappointing when a 1/3 second at Exeter last time out.

4.30 Bangor So many of these arrive out of form but that’s not the case with the Nicky Richards trained Hello Fellas who chased home 50/1 winner Rory’s Valentine at Perth last time out. He was staying on well in the closing stages and should be suited by the extra trip here and looks set to defy a 2lb climb in the weights.

Top weight Frozen Flame has shown more in handicap company and would be dangerous if the first time tongue tie has a positive effect.

8.15 Newcastle This class 3 handicap is the best race on the card and I’m sweet on the place chances of Constantino who was only narrowly beaten into third at Chelmsford last time out having finished last of 19 at Newmarket previously.

Two of his three career wins have come on the all-weather (one here at Newcastle) and with hotpot Pouvoir Magique making the market there certainly looks to be value elsewhere.

DAQMAN’S BETS (all bets staked to win 20 points)
9.75pts win (nap) FAIR MOUNTAIN (2.30 Bangor)
6.4pts win HELLO FELLAS (4.30 Bangor)
2pts win and 10.7pts place CONSTANTINO (8.15 Newcastle)
