8pm We have our first Monday Night Football clash of the season here as Liverpool travel to take on Crystal Palace. Both sides collected three points on the opening weekend, however Liverpool probably put in the most impressive performance of the weekend and it will be very interesting to see how they get on here away from home. Obviously there has been a lot of hype around Liverpool this summer, and if they are to challenge City for the title they simply have to win games like this – even so early in the season!
The markets are confident on the Liverpool win here, with the match odds at the time of writing; Crystal Palace 7.4, Liverpool 1.48 and the draw is 5.1. You have to feel that Liverpool are a little short to back here at 1.48 – we feel that they should be maybe ten ticks higher. However; they have been so impressive going forward recently it’s hard to see how a team like Crystal Palace can stop them scoring.
We could see plenty of goals here – Palace have plenty of goals in their side and we can’t see them sitting back too much here. Although crowding the middle of the pitch seems to be the way to stop Liverpool, perhaps Hodgson will attempt to stop Liverpool before he tries to win the game himself – we can only see those tactics playing into Liverpool’s hands in the long run though.
We feel that Palace can get on the score sheet here at some stage and with the amount of goals in Liverpool, it’s hard not to see them scoring. Both Teams To Score is trading 1.8 and that looks very good value – Liverpool made a few errors at the back away from home last season and we can see a very entertaining game here.
