DAQMAN AGAIN: NO ESCAPE FOR LAYERS: The Daqman clan struck again yesterday. His horses to follow list landed a sensational Christmas double with Elegant Escape (WON 3-1) in the Coral Welsh Grand National after Clan Des Obeaux (WON 12-1) in the King George, taking their profit to 484 points. His analysis tipped Elegant Escape to finish first with Rons Dream (4th 16-1) the best outsider.
NOW HE GOES 12-5 UP ON PRICEWISE: That takes Daqman 12-5 up on Pricewise before their clash in the 3.00 Leopardstown today, in which the last two winners, Road To Respect and Outlander clash.

It’s all change with the racing TV stations on January 1 – or is it?
Racing UK has subtlety become Racing TV as the courses have been shuffled and all Irish cards have switched stables.
At The Races (but not At The ‘Irish’ Races) becomes Sky Racing, in theory giving the sport of racing a much stronger cross promotion across the might of Sky Sports.
Times They Are a-Changin’ sang Bob Dylan. But will we see fresh innovative production values or is it more of the same with different colour studio wallpaper?
Certainly this seemed an ideal opportunity to introduce new blood into the presenting ranks. Most of them are carrying on as if nothing has changed, maybe it hasn’t?
In terms of punditry, DAQMAN hopes for more creativity to match the way people bet in 2019. So many pundits are blandly asked for the winner of the race and usually fail. Place bets, lays, in running are all new angles in and even ’there is no bet in this race’ would be a refreshing dose of honesty to the viewer.
DAQMAN awaits the new channels with interest but will not be losing any sleep. If they fail to move with the times, DAQMAN is more than happy to continue taking up the running. DAQMAN TV, now there’s an idea.
DAQMAN BID FOR SHATTERING TREBLE
1.45 Lingfield The UK action looks much more modest today after the treats of Kempton and Chepstow.
Back on the flat I’ve been waiting the next start of the Henry Candy trained Let Rip.
He’s run twice and good races too at Kempton – just beaten three quarters of a length last time by the John Gosden trained Holy Heart. He finished well clear of the third place runner and should find the necessary improvement to land this. The trainer has been quiet in terms of number of runners but the last horse he sent out won.
Skydiving is the danger on the form but as a maiden after eight starts is looking thoroughly exposed.
1.50 Leopardstown (Christmas Hurdle) Apple’s Jade had to work hard to beat Supasundae in this last year but the runner-up went on to win the Irish Champion Hurdle and the Betdaq 2% Commission Punchestown Champion Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival.
Apple’s Jade looked as good as ever this season winning the Lismullen Hurdle at Navan by 11 lengths and then slamming Supasundae by 20 lengths in the Hatton’s Grace at Fairyhouse.
There’s been a fair few festive shocks so far this Christmas but all the boxes appear to be well and truly ticked with Apple’s Jade and she is my SUPERNAP on Friday.
Faugheen is back up in trip after his disappointing second at odds-on in the Morgiana on his comeback and is probably still best watched. I think he is a shadow of his former self, the only question being how big is the shadow and he obviously has to give weight to the talented mare here.
3.00 Leopardstown (Christmas Chase) After the King George and the Coral Welsh Grand National, I’m trying for a big-race holiday hat-trick with my horses to follow.
With all due respect to the tough guys of this contest, I’m hoping to see a mare step up to win this Christmas Chase.
Last year’s 1-2-3, Road To Respect, Balko Des Flos and the previous winner, Outlander, are all back for more.
Road To Respect came back to the fray overweight and ring rusty at Down Royal in November but was in tremendous form.
He had Noel Meade setting his sights on this Christmas Chase followed by the Cheltenham Gold Cup and I shall back him today for this first leg.
But my horses to follow have been in such great shape that I must also be on the mare Shattered Love, who was smashed in with bookies last night after the decision to make a bold move and switch her from mares-only events into the big time.
