FA CUP SUNDAY: We preview Sunday’s two FA Cup 4th Round games between CRYSTAL PALACE v TOTTENHAM and CHELSEA v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY with extended stats and Betdaq’s own recommended bet.
CRYSTAL PALACE V TOTTENHAM
4pm The FA Cup action continues on Sunday and we start with an all Premier League tie as Crystal Palace hosts Spurs. We have quite an open market on BETDAQ at the time of writing with the match odds trading; Crystal Palace 3.0, Tottenham 2.56 and the draw 3.35. Spurs would have been bitterly disappointed to crash out of the Carabao Cup during the week, especially as last season they would have went through on away goals. Perhaps it’s a help that they have a chance to bounce back quickly in Cup action here and we expect a good game.
Roy Hodgson made some interesting comments in the lead up to this fixture, saying that he would much prefer to stay in the Premier League than reach even the semi-final or better in the FA Cup – so we may see some rested players here. Spurs have been very impressive away from home this season and while this fixture might lack the intensity of a league game we expect Spurs to outclass this Palace side – Palace look way too short at 3.0 and we’re very happy to lay them at the odds.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Crystal Palace at 3.0.

MATCH STATS
- Crystal Palace and Spurs last met in the FA Cup in the fifth round in 2015-16, with Palace winning 1-0 at White Hart Lane on their way to reaching the final that season.
- The last six matches between Crystal Palace and Spurs in all competitions have all ended 1-0 (five Spurs wins, one Palace win).
- Since eliminating four Premier League teams on their way to the 2016 final, Crystal Palace have lost their last three FA Cup matches of this kind.
- Spurs are looking to reach the FA Cup fifth round for a fourth consecutive season for the first time since doing so in five seasons in a row between 1978-79 and 1982-83.
- Since winning the competition in 1991, 25 of the 27 teams to knock Spurs out of the FA Cup have been in the top-flight, with the exceptions Leicester City in 2005-06 and Leeds United in 2012-13.
CHELSEA V SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY
6pm Chelsea are going to go off as one of the shortest priced favourites in the FA Cup this weekend as they only trade 1.22 at the time of writing. Looking at the stats, Sheffield Wednesday don’t have much hope in this clash – Chelsea have progressed from 47 of their last 49 FA Cup ties against non-Premier League sides. This should be a routine home win for Chelsea, however at 1.22 we will have to look around the side markets for some value.
It’s likely that we will see some players rested here from Chelsea as they have had a tough run of fixtures with two London Derbies, losing 2-0 away to Arsenal but then going through to the Carabao Cup final against Spurs during the week. We may see Higuain feature at some point after his loan move from Juve but whatever happens it’s highly likely we see changes from Chelsea. We can see them starting slowly and perhaps Sheffield Wednesday can win on the handicap here. They’re trading 1.92 +2 goals on the Asian Handicap and we expect them to put up a solid performance against a changed Chelsea side.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Sheffield Wednesday +2 goals Asian Handicap to beat Chelsea at 1.92.
