PREMIER LEAGUE TUESDAY: We preview Tuesday’s four Premier League games including the televised NEWCASTLE v BURNLEY all with a recommended BETDAQ bet and extended stats.

CARDIFF V EVERTON

7.45pm We’ve just had a dramatic weekend in English football and now we have a full midweek fixture list too! The games are coming thick and fast at the moment and we kick off with Cardiff hosting Everton. Everton come into this game in poor form having lost their last three; however Cardiff lost 5-1 here against Watford at the weekend and they’ll be looking to bounce back quickly. It’s a very interesting fixture between two teams who aren’t playing great football at the moment and you’d have to lean towards laying Everton at the odds here. They’re currently trading 2.22 on BETDAQ and we expect a much closer game than those odds suggest. Cardiff are just one point away from the bottom three and in front of their own fans, this is a brilliant chance to take points off an out-of-form Everton side.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Everton at 2.22.

MATCH STATS

  • Cardiff have won just one of their last 11 meetings with Everton in all competitions (D4 L6), winning 1-0 in a League Cup match in September 1979.
  • Everton have won just one of their last 12 top-flight away games against Cardiff (D4 L7), and are winless in their last six. Their last such victory there was in March 1929 (2-0).
  • Everton are looking to do the league double over Cardiff for the first time since 1928-29.
  • Cardiff have never won a midweek Premier League game (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), drawing three and losing six. They’ve scored just two goals in those nine games and have conceded at least twice in each defeat.
  • Cardiff have conceded more home Premier League goals than any other side this season (28), conceding five times on three separate occasions (0-5 v Man City, 1-5 v Man Utd, 1- 5 v Watford).
  • Everton have lost their last three Premier League games. They’ve not lost four in a row since January 2015 under Roberto Martinez.
  • Cardiff defender Sol Bamba has scored in each of his last two Premier League games, scoring twice. He has four goals this season, a joint-league high for the Bluebirds along with Bobby Reid and Callum Paterson.
  • Marco Silva has won an average of 1.22 Premier League points per game as Everton manager, the worst ratio of any Toffees manager since Walter Smith, who departed the club in March 2002 with a 1.15 ratio.
  • Neil Warnock has never lost a home match against Everton in all competitions (P3 W1 D2 L0), avoiding defeat with Notts County in March 1992 (0-0), Sheffield United in March 2007 (1-1) and Leeds United in September 2012 (2-1).
  • Everton’s Gylfi Sigurdsson has been involved in more Premier League goals in games played in Wales than any other player (12 goals, 21 assists in 67 appearances), though he never scored or assisted in three away appearances there with Spurs, with all his goal involvements coming in home games with Swansea.

HUDDERSFIELD V WOLVERHAMPTON

7.45pm Huddersfield lost against at the weekend against Newcastle and even the most optimistic people in the club know that they are going down. Sometimes that might come as a relief, although it sounds odd, and the players play with no pressure and improve – however it’s hard to see how Huddersfield can win a game at the moment. There’s no doubt that they’ve been the worst team in the Premier League this season and with Wolves having a great season, it look a good opportunity to back them here. Much like Newcastle at the weekend, it’s hard to get away from the Wolves price at 1.86 – it really looks massive against this Huddersfield side. They’ve lost their last seven home games, so home advantage doesn’t come into this – something sides who battle to stay up really rely on – and we can only see one way traffic here.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Wolverhampton to beat Huddersfield at 1.86.

MATCH STATS

  • Huddersfield have won 11 of their last 13 league meetings with Wolves (L2), including each of the last four in a row without conceding a single goal.
  • Wolves have lost seven of their last eight away league games against Huddersfield, winning only in a Championship game in February 2015 (4-1).
  • Huddersfield have never won a midweek Premier League game (D2 L7), losing each of their four such games on Tuesday or Wednesday this season.
  • Wolves have lost six of their 11 Premier League matches (55%) against teams starting the day bottom (W3 D2 L6); they are one of just three teams in the competition’s history to have lost more than half of such matches, along with Blackpool (75%) and Hull City (58%).
  • Huddersfield have lost their last seven Premier League home matches – only two teams have ever lost more in a row, with Wolves losing nine between January and April 2012 and Sunderland losing 10 consecutively between January 2003 and August 2005.
  • Nuno Espirito Santo has only lost more than one league match against one opponent as Wolves manager, losing twice to Cardiff City; Huddersfield could, however, become the first team to complete a league double over Wolves in the last two seasons.
  • Huddersfield have taken four points from a possible 69 in their last 23 Premier League games against teams starting the day in the top eight of the division (W0 D4 L19) since beating Manchester United in October 2017.
  • Only Manchester City (9) and Liverpool (8) have conceded fewer away Premier League goals than Wolves (15) this season.
  • Jan Siewert has lost his first four Premier League matches as a manager of Huddersfield Town and could become the third to lose his first five in charge of a club, after Mick McCarthy at Sunderland and Eric Black at Aston Villa.
  • Raul Jimenez has scored 10 Premier League goals for Wolves this season, becoming only the second player to hit double-figures for the club in a season after Steven Fletcher (10 in 2010-11, 12 in 2011-12).

LEICESTER V BRIGHTON

7.45pm It was a big surprise to see Leicester lose in the manner that they did at the weekend and although they’ve had a tough run of fixtures; losing by such a margin at home has to be a worry heading into the final stages of the season. Losing 4-1 at home to Crystal Palace will surely get a reaction from the players here and they have a great chance to bounce back. Brighton are a very poor side away from home – they’ve taken just six points from a possible 33 and have yet to win an away Premier League game in 2019. Leicester couldn’t ask for a better side to visit in order to get them a result after a poor run. The loss to Palace was even more surprising as they played very well against Spurs, United and Liverpool and if they can play even close to that level here they will beat Brighton. A Leicester lay might tempt many after the weekend however we’re happy to back the home side at 1.98 – Brighton have a poor long-term record away from home and we can’t see that changing here – perhaps the result at the weekend for Leicester has added a bit of extra value to the market to win tonight.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Leicester to beat Brighton at 1.98.

MATCH STATS

  • Leicester are unbeaten in their three Premier League meetings with Brighton, winning both games last season before drawing the reverse fixture 1-1 in December.
  • Brighton have won just one of their last six away league games against Leicester (D2 L3), winning 4-1 in a Championship match in April 2014.
  • Leicester are unbeaten in 14 home matches played on Tuesday in all competitions (W10 D4 L0) since losing 2-4 to Chelsea in the League Cup third round in September 2016.
  • Departing Leicester manager Claude Puel registered a Premier League win percentage of 34% with the Foxes, a worse ratio than both Craig Shakespeare (38%) and Claudio Ranieri (44%).

  • Brighton manager Chris Hughton is yet to win in three away league visits to Leicester (W0 D1 L2), losing his most recent two visits to the King Power Stadium.
  • Leicester have only lost five consecutive home league matches on one previous occasion, doing so between January and March 1959 in the top-flight.
  • Brighton have failed to win any of their first six league matches at the start of a calendar year for the first time since 1998, when they won none of their first nine matches in the fourth tier of English football.
  • Leicester’s James Maddison had nine shots without scoring against Crystal Palace, a joint- league high this season along with Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino against Man Utd in December, who also had nine shots without success.

NEWCASTLE V BURNLEY

8pm This is a very interesting fixture and market. Only Manchester United are currently on a better run of form than Burnley in the Premier League. They even managed to beat Spurs 2-1 at the weekend. That was in front of their own fans however their away form has been excellent too so that’s not a reason to be against them tonight – again only Manchester United have picked up more away points than Burnley in 2019. Newcastle absolutely battered Huddersfield at the weekend looking at the stats however Huddersfield are nailed to the bottom of the league and Burnley will pose a completely different threat here. We’re very happy to support Burnley here at the odds – Newcastle look very short at 2.16. They have been battling hard to get points at the bottom of the table, as have Burnley, and not much separates the sides in the table however with Burnley on an excellent run it’s hard to see the game not being closer than 2.16 suggests and from a value point of view, we’re very happy to lay Newcastle.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Newcastle at 2.16.
