SUPERNAP DOUBLE, 20-1 PLACE: HONOURS GO TO DAQMAN: Shamrock and Daqman are so far ahead of the field that they like to joust now and then, to give themselves some competition, and it’s all free to better the day’s racing for BETDAQ bettors! Shamrock hit TEN naps in a row. Now Daqman has replied with back-to-back supernaps. After a 5-6 winner on Sunday, he cheekily stole an edge with TWO 20-point hits in the SAME RACE yesterday for a profit of 33.20:

WON 4-6 WESTERN HONOUR (20-points win supernap)
3rd 20-1 LOOKS LIKE MURT (place bet to win 20 points)

14-DAY CHELTENHAM COUNTDOWN: SEE HOW THEY WON: Look out today and every day for the next two weeks as Daqman counts down the Cheltenham Festival with (this week) ratings with ante-post bets, next week stats and facts, and more bets, in his famous See How They Won special.

TON-UP TARGET AND NO MALARKEY

There are Cheltenham standouts. That’s what the ratings say. The defection of Le Rochebourg leaves three within a pound of each other in the Arkle market.

But, with her mare’s allowance, Apple’s Jade is almost half a stone ahead of the Champion Hurdle field, and Benie Des Dieux is a worthy Mares Hurdle favourite in her absence.

The one I like on the first day is Mister Malarkey in the NH Chase. This always goes to an improver and nothing deserves such an epithet more than Mister Malarkey, 13.0 on BETDAQ this morning.

Yesterday’s 260.0 Albert Bartlett bet, Hold The Note*, would return 260 for a pound. Today’s rates 8.25 points as a ton-up bet to win 100.

* Was published yesterday but at the very foot of the column, apologies if you missed due to a technical gremlin. Repeated below for confirmation.

Trainer Colin Tizzard said last night that he is struggling to find a jockey for Mister Malarkey in the NH Chase – ‘all the best amateur riders are taken’ – and is leaving him in the RSA. So I shall also bet (win 100) 4.75 points to win in that race, too, at 22.0 on BETDAQ.

ULSTER CALLS AT WOLVERHAMPTON

2.50 Catterick At face value a tricky maiden hurdle but I think there are good reasons for supporting Dagian – despite his 522 form figures.

All three of those races have come at Catterick so he is taking up residency – but he was only beaten a length last time out in a race that certainly didn’t look any tougher than this.

His principal rivals lack experience. Al Kherb failed to build on his Market Rasen debut third when running an absolute shocker at Musselburgh last time out when he was sent off favourite.

Saryshagann was another beaten favourite last time out, he was sent off odds-on at Musselburgh but pulled hard throughout the race, jumped left and made a costly blunder four out.

Ace Ventura was a heavy ground winner on the flat when trained by Roger Charlton and should improve on his jumps debut Market Rasen third (at 33/1) but the ground might be a touch lively.

3.40 Ffos Las Considering the time of the year, and Ffos Las defying the heatwave with soft ground, the Welsh venue stage a pretty decent card this afternoon including the bumper which wouldn’t look out of place on a Grade 1 track.

For a bet though, the novices’ hurdle at 3.40pm appeals most.

Dr Sanderson struggled under a penalty at Hereford last time out and seemingly had his limitations exposed. Even with the resurgence in form shown by Paul Nicholls others make more appeal.

The same comments pretty much apply to Khage who was beaten 31 lengths at Fakenham having previously won at Taunton on good ground.

The bet might well be the Venetia Williams trained Crooner who looks a typical slow burning project from the yard ready to start showing some winning form.

The grey joined the stable from France and there was plenty to like about his debut at Warwick when third to the long odds on Laskadine on good to soft ground. This minimum trip looks ideal and he should be able to find the improvement necessary to trouble the penalised runners.

7.00 Wolverhampton Another Tuesday race which looks well above average. Four of the six runners here were last time out winners, including Ulster who defied his penalty to win well at Kempton. He was eased down in the closing stages and there should be more to come from him with the step up in trip on his handicap debut.

There’re plenty here to help make the market including the top weight Flaming Marvel who made hard work of winning here last time and landing the odds. I think the handicapper might just have a firmer grasp on him as he is more experienced, compared with Ulster who I rate as the nap of the day.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 20 points)
BET 5.7pts win DAGIAN (2.50 Catterick)
BET 4.6pts win THE CROONER (3.40 Ffos Las)
BET 11.6pts win (nap) ULSTER (7.00 Wolverhampton)
