GALWAY FIRST RACE NAP: It’s the final day of the Galway Festival on Sunday and SHAMROCK’S NAP runs in the opener at 2.15pm.
BETDAQ brand ambassador Gavin Cromwell speculated in his latest blog on this site about running Ilikedwayurthinkin again today and it’s all systems go for the five-year-old who bolted up by six and a half lengths here on Wednesday.
A 5lb penalty is unlikely to anchor his current progress, the winning margin earlier in the week could easily have been doubled given that he was eased down towards the finish. He remains well handicapped.
The big question mark is over distance and whether he can be as effective over today’s shorter trip but I see no reason on his form why this should be a problem and he is still relatively lightly raced and progressive.
Charle Brune might be the danger after wins over today’s trip at Wexford and Tipperary. He bolted up last time but the handicapper has raised him a brutal 15lb.
