IRISH CAMBRIDGESHIRE DAY: SHAMROCK looks ahead to The Curragh which features the Irish Cambridgeshire and three Group 3 races. He has two recommended bets.
Frustrating from the nap Skitter Scatter (SP 5/2) yesterday who led right until the closing stages of the Group 3 Fairy Bridge Stakes only to be collared by Waitingfortheday. It was still a good effort from the nap after a long lay off and I’m sure she will notch up some more wins before too soon.
A cracking card at The Curragh tonight featuring three Group 3 races and the Irish Cambridgeshire.
A speculative play in the Tote Irish Cambridgeshire is On A Session who came right back to form at Galway when runner-up to Laughifuwant. He again gets a little give in the ground and although up 4lb since Galway still looks well handicapped and could be even better over the mile trip which he tackles for the first time.
For the nap, I’m taking the Aidan O’Brien trained Lope Y Fernandez to come out on top in the Round Tower Stakes at 5.20pm.
He made a winning debut here in June and has mixed it in top two-year-old company since then. He finished second to the hugely likeable Pinatubo in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot and was then third to the same rival in the Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood – although soundly beaten 10 lengths,
This looks an easier contest and he can resume winning ways.
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Lope Y Fernandez
NEXT BEST: On A Session (6.50 Curragh)
