PREMIER LEAGUE SATURDAY: We preview Saturday’s Premier League games with recommended BETDAQ bets and extended stats. The action kicks off at 12.30pm with LEICESTER v TOTTENHAM.
LEICESTER V TOTTENHAM
12.30pm What a superb fixture to kick off Saturday in the Premier League! Leicester have been in very good form this season, and came close to getting a result in Old Trafford last weekend – this will be a very tough day for Spurs. Both sides are on eight points after five games, and a win for Leicester would be a massive boost – who knows; they might even start dreaming of a Top Four spot. Considering how vulnerable Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea look – who could blame them!
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Leicester 3.0, Tottenham 2.52 and the draw is 3.6. Spurs threw away a two goal lead midweek in the Champions League against Olympiakos, and they also did the same away to Arsenal! Apart from their 2-2 draw away to City (in which they were very lucky, City battered them) and a four goal easy home win against Palace; Spurs have produced more questions than answers. They still need to improve and with Leicester in good form, we’re happy to lay Spurs at 2.52 – we expect Leicester to make those odds look too short here.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Tottenham at 2.52.

MATCH STATS
- After winning five of their seven Premier League home games against Spurs at Filbert Street (D1 L1), Leicester have won just one of their six such games against them since moving to the King Power Stadium (D1 L4).
- Tottenham have won four of their last five Premier League games against Leicester, including each of the last three in a row. They’ve never won four consecutive top-flight matches against the Foxes.
- Leicester have scored more Premier League goals against Tottenham than they have versus any other side (44). However, they’ve only conceded more goals against Manchester United (58) and Arsenal (57) in the competition than against Spurs (48).
- Since Leicester returned to the Premier League in 2014-15, their Premier League games against Tottenham have seen a total of 40 goals scored – only Arsenal vs Liverpool (48) has seen more in that time.
- Tottenham are without a win in their last eight away games in the Premier League (W0 D2 L6) – they last endured a longer winless away run in the top-flight between April and December 2006 (10).
- Despite losing last time out versus Man Utd, Leicester City have won 25 points since Brendan Rodgers’ first game in charge in March (W7 D4 L4); only Liverpool (43), Man City (37) and Chelsea (27) have picked up more points in this period.
- Tottenham striker Harry Kane has scored 13 goals in 12 games in all competitions against Leicester, more than he has vs any other side in his professional career.
- Spurs’ Harry Kane has scored 125 goals in 172 Premier League games under Mauricio Pochettino – only Thierry Henry under Arsene Wenger (175 goals) and Wayne Rooney under Alex Ferguson (141 goals) have netted more under a specific manager in the competition.
- Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has attempted the most shots without scoring in the Premier League this season (16 shots, one on target). Maddison has failed to net with his last 28 shots in the Premier League, last scoring against Huddersfield in April.
- Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy has scored in each of his last three Premier League matches against Tottenham Hotspur, netting four goals during this run. Since the start of 2014-15, Vardy has scored more Premier League goals versus ‘big six’ teams than any other player (31).
BURNLEY V NORWICH
3pm Norwich produced the shock of the Premier League thus far when beating Manchester City 3-2 last weekend. Who saw that coming? When you’re more than likely going to be battling it out towards the bottom of the table – three points against City is such a bonus for your season. They will obviously be full of confidence coming into this fixture now but let’s not get carried away. They have lost away to Liverpool, Crawley and West Ham in their last three away fixtures. You can obviously forgive Liverpool but they simply have to improve away from home before we considering backing them. Burnley have one less point than them in the Premier League table but they have had some solid performances – they got easily beaten by Liverpool but we can forgive them. Apart from Liverpool; Burnley have been solid and this is a good chance for them to put three points on the board. We like them at 2.06 – we feel they should be odds on.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Burnley to beat Norwich at 2.06.

MATCH STATS
- Burnley have only lost one of their last nine league meetings with Norwich (W6 D2), with all of these matches coming in the Championship between 2006 and 2011.
- This will be the first ever Premier League meeting between Burnley and Norwich – their last encounter in the top-flight was in January 1976, with Norwich winning 3-1 at Carrow Road.
- In their league history, Burnley have only lost one of their 17 home meetings with Norwich (W13 D3), going down 3-5 in April 2004. The Clarets have won their last five home league games against the Canaries.
- Burnley have won their last four Premier League matches against newly-promoted teams, having won just four of their first 20 such games in the competition (W4 D9 L7).
- Norwich City have lost 15 of their last 17 away games in the Premier League (W2), losing their last five on the road, while also shipping six goals in their two matches in 2019-20.
- Burnley have won just once in their last nine Premier League matches (W1 D3 L5), after winning the previous three.
- Norwich striker Teemu Pukki has been directly involved in eight goals in his first five Premier League appearances (6 goals, 2 assists); only Sergio Aguero (9) registered more in his first five games in the competition’s history. Indeed, Mick Quinn (11) and Aguero (10) scored and assisted the most goals in their first six games in PL history.
- Norwich midfielder Todd Cantwell has had a hand in four goals in five Premier League games in 2019-20 (2 goals, 2 assists); one more than he recorded in 24 league games in 2018-19 (1 goal, 2 assists).
- Norwich’s 3-2 win against Manchester City was only the 13th defeat for Pep Guardiola in the Premier League. Only of the four previous 12 teams to beat Guardiola’s Man City in the PL went onto win their next game in the competition (W4 D3 L5), with Chelsea winning three times and Everton winning once.
- Burnley manager Sean Dyche is facing Norwich for the first time as manager – he has failed to win his last six matches when meeting an opponent for the first time in his managerial career (D2 L4).
EVERTON V SHEFFIELD UNITED
3pm Sheffield United would have been disappointed to lose at home to Southampton last weekend, especially after battling so hard for a 2-2 draw away to Chelsea prior to that. Everton have been all over the place at the back in recent games; however despite conceding two goals in their last home game – they still won it. They have lost two away games but they have always performed better at home and we feel that the 1.69 on them to win today is too big. Sheffield United have may a good start to life in the Premier League but they have leaked the odd goal here and there and we expect Everton to outscore them today. Everton might be low on confidence away from home – but in front of their own fans they can get the job done and the 1.69 looks ten ticks too big.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Everton to beat Sheffield United at 1.69.

MATCH STATS
- Everton are unbeaten in their last four Premier League meetings with Sheffield United (W2 D2), having lost their opening two such games against them in the 1992-93 season.
- Sheffield United have won three of their last five top-flight away games against Everton, though they have lost their last two league visits to Goodison Park (August 1993 and October 2006).
- Everton have lost three of their last four Premier League games against promoted sides (W1), as many as they had in their previous 44 in the competition (W25 D16 L3).
- Everton have conceded 19 goals via set-pieces under Marco Silva in the Premier League (excluding penalties); more than any other team in this period (since Aug 2018).
- Everton have failed to win any of the 20 Premier League matches in which they’ve gone behind under Marco Silva (W0 D4 L16). In fact, Silva hasn’t won any of his last 24 PL games when his sides have gone behind, since Watford won 2-1 versus Leicester in December 2017 (W0 D5 L19).
- Sheffield United are winless in their last 12 away top-flight matches, since a 1-0 win at Wigan in December 2006 (W0 D3 L9).
- On average, Everton have allowed just eight opposition passes per defensive action in the Premier League this season; no team have allowed fewer (level with Leicester).
- Everton have conceded seven goals across their last three league games, as many as they had in their previous 13 Premier League fixtures before this.
- Each of Everton’s last three goals in the Premier League have been headers; they have only scored four consecutive headed goals on two occasions (November 2008 and April 2010).
- Sheffield United have given more minutes to British and Irish players in the Premier League this season than any other team (4916 minutes).
MANCHESTER CITY V WATFORD
3pm When you sit bottom of the table with only two points from five games, who is the last side you want to travel to? Yep you’ve guessed it, Manchester City! Poor Watford – it’s hard to see them turning around their season here and the markets agree. City are trading as short as 1.12 at the time of writing – we will see shorter prices on City at home this season but this is up there on the list of short prices! Watford just haven’t been good enough this season and with the amount of goals that they have conceded, we expect City to rack up a score here. Watford can take some hope from Norwich beating City last weekend but with City back at home, they can comfortably win this one. Any Other Home Win (City to score four or more goals and win) is trading 2.3 in the Correct Score market and that looks good value.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Any Other Home Win at 2.3.

MATCH STATS
- Manchester City have won their last 11 meetings with Watford in all competitions, scoring at least twice in each game (38 goals in total).
- Watford’s run of 11 successive defeats in all competitions against Man City is their joint- longest such run against any opponent – they also lost 11 in a row vs Man Utd between 1987-2016.
- Only against West Brom (14 between April 2012-January 2018) have Manchester City had a longer winning run against an opponent than their current run of 11 against Watford.
- Watford have lost each of their last 15 Premier League away games against ‘big six’ teams by an aggregate score of 9-45, with their last such victory coming against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in January 2017 (2-1).
- Manchester City’s 2-3 loss at Norwich City on MD5 was their first Premier League defeat in 19 matches – they last lost consecutively in the competition in December 2018 (vs Crystal Palace & Leicester City). However, the Citizens have won 20 of their last 22 Premier League games at the Etihad Stadium (W20 D1 L1).
- Watford are winless in the Premier League so far this season (W0 D2 L3) and have only failed to win any of their opening six games to a league season on eight previous occasions, with the last coming in the 2006-07 Premier League campaign in which they ended the season in bottom place.
- Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero has scored 10 goals in his seven appearances against Watford in all competitions, including netting hat-tricks in January 2014 (FA Cup) and September 2017 (Premier League).
- Sergio Aguero has scored in his last six Premier League appearances – the last player to score in seven in a row in the competition was Romelu Lukaku in December 2015 whilst playing for Everton.
- Raheem Sterling has scored eight goals in seven appearances against Watford in all competitions, including his first ever goal for Manchester City in August 2015, and a hat- trick in this exact fixture last season.
- Since Pep Guardiola took charge of the club in 2016-17, Manchester City have scored the lowest share of goals via set-pieces (excluding penalties) in the Premier League (13% – 38/297).
- This will be the fourth managerial meeting between Pep Guardiola and Quique Sánchez Flores but the first encounter in England. Quique Sánchez Flores won the first
match as Atletico Madrid boss in February 2010 against Guardiola’s Barcelona (2-1 at home) but has since lost twice.
NEWCASTLE V BRIGHTON
5.30pm It might be very early in the season; but fixtures like this are so important for both sides. Newcastle sit in 18th position while Brighton are in 16th – only a point between them and two sides likely to have to battle all year to stay up. A win for either side would be huge – especially Brighton away from home. Brighton started their season so positively against Watford, however that form hasn’t exactly been held up by Watford and they haven’t won a league game since. Newcastle played well here in a 1-0 loss to Arsenal, and shocked Spurs when winning 1-0 away from home. They lost 3-1 to Liverpool last weekend but we can forgive them that – a more worrying result is the 1-1 draw here against Watford who have been poor. We can’t see anything between the sides here and we expect a very close and hard fought affair – the draw looks good value at 3.25 to end the action for the day.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Draw at 3.25.

- There have been just four goals scored in the four previous Premier League meetings between Newcastle and Brighton, with neither side scoring more than once in any match.

- Brighton have won just one of their last 14 Premier League matches (W1 D5 L8), scoring just eight goals and drawing a blank on eight occasions in the process.

- Steve Bruce is looking to avoid becoming only the second Newcastle manager to fail to win his opening three Premier League games at St. James’ Park after Steve McClaren.
