MATCH POINT: Our tennis tipping column is 70 points up since it started with the next BETDAQ tennis bet in the Stan Wawrinka v Andy Murray final of the European Open on Sunday.
Despite Kvitova’s loss to Ashleigh Barty, Reilly Opelka did the column a favour with his win over Yasutaka Uchiyama in Japan to take the profit on the column since it began to over 70 points.
The next bet comes up at 3pm today as Andy Murray takes on Stan Wawrinka in the final of the European Open in Antwerp.
Murray’s progress since his hip operation has been nothing short of miraculous and again his sheer tenacity has shone through but he may fall at the final hurdle in his bid to win his first ATP title since 2017.
He faces a familiar rival in the shape of Stan Wawrinka but Murray’s hectic run of matches is the biggest concern.
He had a tough two and a half hour battle against Uno Humbert in the semis – coming through 3-6, 7-5 and 6-2 and this will be Murray’s fourth match in four days.
Murray told Amazon Prime: “It’s been a long road to get back to this point, I certainly didn’t expect it to come so soon since I started playing again.
“It’s been a big surprise to me and I’m happy to be through to the final.
“Stan’s a brilliant player. We’ve played against each other in some big matches in the past in big tournaments.”
Murray’s ranking has nose-dived to 243 with his enforced injury whilst Wawrinka is ranked 18th in the world.
Since 2010, the pair have met six times on a hard court surface with honours shared at three a piece with Murray 11-8 up on the 19 times they have met on all surfaces.
Stan Wawrinka should be the fresher player though this afternoon. He had much easier passage to the final beating teenager Jannik Sinner 6-3, 6-2 in 65 minutes.
After the match he said: “I didn’t play since the US Open, so to be in a final here after a month [away] is great for me. The most important [part] is the way I am playing, the way I am moving and the way I am feeling on the court. It has been great.”
As always, check out the wide range of tennis markets on BETDAQ but the bet for me has to be Wawrinka at around 1.65 and a straight sets win for him at around 2.5.
