CHRISTMAS RACING STARTS HERE: Leopardstown’s superb Christmas meeting is underway on Thursday with the Grade 1 Racing Post Novice Chase the day one highlight.
It’s a bit like the Christmas lunch – a true feast of action over the coming days with some of the biggest jumping stars in action.
Just the one Grade 1 on the card today. It’s the Racing Post Novice Chase at 2.20pm and it has a small but select field of five runners.
The BETDAQ market points towards a match between Laurina and Fakir D’oudairies, both of whom have made great starts to their respective jumping careers.
Laurina justified odds-on favouritism to win well at Gowran Park beating Minella Indo easily and Fakir D’oudairies has won both his starts emphatically including at Grade 1 level in the Drinmore at Fairyhouse last time out but his task was made easier by the departure of Samcro and it’s very hard to say with confidence what would have happened that day.
Narrow preference is for Laurina who remains very lightly raced.
