GRADE 1 NO BATTLE FOR DOYEN: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the Grade 1 Neville Hotels Novice Chase at Leopardstown this afternoon.
The Gordon Elliott trained Battleoverdoyen can continue his rise to the top over fences by taking the Grade 1 Neville Hotels Novice Chase at Leopardstown this afternoon.
He’s won five of his six races under Rules, including his first two chase efforts at Galway and last time out at Punchestown where he stayed on well to beat Any Second Now by five lengths in the Grade 2 Florida Pearl.
He made a couple of errors that day suggesting he is still learning his craft but there’s no denying the size of engine he has.
The big danger today, in the now four runner race, is likely to come from Carefully Selected who wasn’t rated too far behind on hurdles form and who made a pleasing start to his chasing career with a win at Fairyhouse.
