BETDAQ INSIDER: This week’s review features a host of different sports, with notable wins coming under the bright lights at both Dundalk and Vegas.
The Headliners
A busy week on the Exchange saw money changing hands on events based across the globe, none more so than at the WGC-Mexico Championship where the much maligned Patrick Reed fended off both colleagues and critics to earn one customer a very nice payday.
XSP VALUE
The one real standout XSP winner on the Exchange last week came at Southwell on Tuesday evening as 50/1 shot Light Lily stayed on to win the 17:30 Handicap for trainer Paul D’Arcy. A sixth run for the filly delivered a rather unexpected victory, given her previous run she finished 10th of 11. That said, one BETDAQ customer saw something most others didn’t and took the XSP of 100 with their £5 stake to enjoy a tidy return.
“Big Price” Watch
As rare as it is to see a 100.0 winner like that at Southwell, the chances of that price being overshadowed by more than DOUBLE within the same week really is one for the books, and that was the case last week. Friday night racing at Dundalk is very popular with Irish racing fans, and one punter in particular will have thoroughly enjoyed their win in the 20:00. Pegasus Bridge, another 50/1 SP winner, delivered incredible Exchange value, as they were backed at 213.24 by the customer in question. A modest stake of £2 would not have curtailed the celebrations after such an upturn in fortunes.
Staying in Ireland for another eye-catching price, this time at the rescheduled card at Punchestown on Tuesday. Yaha Fizz overcame a mistake two from home to earn a first win since February 2017 at an SP of 33/1, with one Exchange player backing the 10-year-old to win with an £88 stake at a cracking price of 55.83, returning a little shy of £5,000.
Odds On Backers
With the likes of Federer, Nadal and Serena dominating Tennis over the last decade it can be said that Tennis is becoming rather predictable, but that isn’t the case further down the chain, as was seen on Tuesday at the ATP tournament in Rio de Janeiro. Carlos Alcaraz, ranked 314th, came out on top against Albert Ramos-Vinolas (45th) in a three set matchup that went to a final set tie-break. Alcarez fought back from 3-0 down and escaped two match points at 4-5 to recover, and comfortably take the tiebreak 7-2. The topsy-turvy nature of this clash proved to be the undoing of one punter who backed Ramos-Vinolas at 1.06 and in doing so lost their stake of £1,061.
Wilder vs Fury
The biggest story in sport over the last seven days was undoubtedly Tyson Fury’s comprehensive win in the ring over Deontay Wilder, and to no surprise this was a popular market on the Exchange. In addition to the £8k+ win seen in the graphic above, a couple of other similar yet contrasting bets proved profitable for BETDAQ customers. One saw £5,000 staked at 2.14, backing the Manchester man to get the job done, whilst on the flip side, another £5,000 was laid on The Bronze Bomber coming out victorious. Laying Wilder as opposed to Backing Fury could be seen as a more strategic bet considering how their first contest was controversially scored a draw.

Who Dares Wins…wins!
Finally, the Alan King trained Who Dares Wins repaid it’s backers with a victory at Kempton on Saturday. A win that came after failing to do so last time out, despite leading the betting as a 2/7 favourite. This time around, priced at 10/1 and with Tom Cannon on board, the eight-year-old came up trumps for one punter who won £6,165 from a £700 stake. Meanwhile, the layers would’ve been disappointed to lose out, as 7/4 favourite Commanche Red could only place, resulting in some heavy losses. Most notably in the shape of a £677 stake at 13.68, costing the customer £8,578 in the process.
