BETDAQ INSIDER: With the continued cancellation of sporting events, the week that was may have been one of the busiest on the exchange that we will see for a while, with greater emphasis falling on the likes of Greyhounds Racing and Australian soccer.
The Headliners
The limited sporting action meant a lot of eyes were on Ireland, where racing continues albeit behind closed doors, and so some of the top trades came from Dundalk, Thurles and Downpatrick.
XSP Value
After a rollercoaster week at Cheltenham in terms of winning prices, a degree of normality returned this week but there was still plenty of value for Betdaq customers. None more so than at Henlow on Sunday afternoon when Miss Mittens won at an SP of 12/1, a price trounced by the XSP of 37.41. The latter was taken by one punter in particular who in doing so turned £26 into £843.
Another noticeable XSP win at the dogs came in the shape of Fawkham Gin at Central Park on Thursday, who won at an SP of 8/1 compared to a starting price of 20.20 on the exchange.
“Big Price” Watch
Only one place to start in this week’s lookout for winning outsiders as 25/1 shot Little Brian upset the odds to come out victorious at Hereford on Monday. The Alastair Ralph trained gelding was fancied by a couple of exchange players at prices almost double that of the SP, as one punter staked £62 at 44.0 to win over £2,600, whilst another backed the nine year old to win at 43.46 with a £114 stake, winning £4,841.
Football is hard to find these days, but there were matches taking place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and one that saw a big priced winning bet. Guarani SP took on Ponte Preta SP, with the away side taking a 2-0 lead into the half-time break. However, Guarani regrouped and scored eleven minutes after the restart, before adding two more in the final ten minutes to win 3-2. The 89th minute winner brought joy to one bettor on the exchange who successfully backed the Correct Score of 3-2 at an amazing 66.01, to win over £1,300.
Odds On Backers
The Over/Under Goals markets can feel like an all or nothing venture which can often be cruel to punters, and such was the case this week. In Australia, the Newcastle Jets lost out 1-0 to Brisbane Roar after an early goal, despite dominating with 61% possession. Some customers backed Over 1.5 Goals at a price as short as 1.15, only to be left disappointed as the Jets failed to even register a shot on target, even though they racked up ten shots at goal.
Elsewhere, in Belarus, Slutsksakhar Slutsk enjoyed a comfortable 3-1 victory over Salvia Mozyr, after the away team saw a man sent off and a goal conceded in the space of three minutes, which turned the game on its head. At 2-1 and with only 17 minutes remaining, you could forgive the exchange punters that backed Under 3.5 Goals at 1.08, only to see their efforts fall flat once Artem Serdyuk scored his side’s second penalty of the game to put the contest to bed.
