MATCH OVERVIEW:

Sunday starts with a fascinating clash in the CPL between Trinbago and Barbados! Trinbago are two from two with Narine being the star so far. We saw a very high score in the early game yesterday with a score of 64/0 after the powerplay; as I noted in yesterday’s preview we had a day break and there was a chance of a very different wicket. Once again today, keep an eye on the early overs and see what conditions are like.

Barbados have one win and one loss heading into this game; however they didn’t get the best of the weather in their loss. Their innings got cut short by the rain and then the Zouks only had a five overs chase while Barbados had a wet ball to bowl with. I wouldn’t read too much into that loss – it’s always hard to defend a five over chases, especially with the batsmen we have in this competition.

Trinbago have been very impressive in the competition to date – their side seems to be working perfectly. Their bowlers have been on fire; although this match will be a very good test if indeed we have better batting conditions. On paper the Trinbago batting is much better than Barbados, although we have some excellent bowlers on display here – Rashid Khan has been excellent for Barbados.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As noted above, watch out for better batting conditions than at the start of the tournament. Yesterday we seen a very high scoring powerplay and with the day break, that has given the groundsmen time to work on the wicket. Remember, most fans want to see sixes and high scores so it’s what the TV broadcasters will want too! Take the first few overs to have a look at the wicket, but I would expect it to play better than the early games.

We have also seen some rain around in the early games which wouldn’t be a surprise. It’s the season in the West Indies, but we haven’t lost a game yet. It’s just really heavy showers and the ground drained very well the other day to get in a five over chase.

RECOMMENDED BET:

I really like Trinbago here at the prices. They have started the tournament very well and their bowlers have been excellent. I’m a big fan of their batting line-up though and that’s a big positive against a decent bowling attack. I feel the weak link is the Barbados batting here against the Trinbago bowling and that can win the game. Trinbago will have to face Rashid Khan, but they have the depth in their batting to be able to cope with that and at 1.69 I’m happy to back Trinbago to go three from three.

The Edge Says:
Three points win Trinbago Knight Riders to beat Barbados Tridents at 1.69 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

With better batting conditions, the strategy will have to change from the previous games during the week. Even though we saw a big scoring start from The Zouks in the early game yesterday, I would still take a little time to get a feel for conditions here. Both sides have very good bowling attacks, so if there’s any spin in the wicket we are unlikely to see big scores – but if it’s great for batting then expect some sixes – especially from Trinbago!

Narine and Rashid have been excellent, and I’d expect more good performances from them. A lot of the strategy for this one will come down to the pitch – once again unless conditions have changed a lot; you’d probably want to be on the team batting first. I wouldn’t be too keen on being on Barbados while batting either with the Trinbago bowling.
