MATCH OVERVIEW:

It’s day two at Queen’s Park Oval as the St Lucia Zouks meet the Trinbago Night Riders in the first game of the day. The Zouks have performed better than expected this year after having a terrible season in 2019. Their success has been driven by their batting and although it isn’t strong paper, it is certainly working. They got off the mark with a somewhat “lucky” win with the weather working in their favour, and that has given them the confidence they needed.

It will be interesting to see how they do against a very strong Trinbago side who have won all three of their games and sat top of the table as the CPL moved on from the Brian Lara Stadium. Narine has been their star man and with a better wicket expected here, their performance might dip a little. Their batting has also been excellent though, and at the moment they look the best team in the competition. They were always going to have a reasonably good season with all their West Indies’ stars fresh – usually the likes of Pollard and Bravo are always travelling and playing everywhere but that has changed this year!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The early games were definitely better for batting than the late games at the Brian Lara Stadium, and after seeing the early game here yesterday it looks like we are going to have very similar games here. 151/7 was chased down in the early game while the late game was very low scoring. At the moment, you’d have to expect the same trends to continue.

It might be too early to come to that conclusion though as it’s only been one day. I would 100% recommend watching the first few overs with an open mind before deciding how the pitch is going to play. We also have some quality batting line-ups on display that are in-form too. Over the previous three years, the lowest number of sixes in a fixture was ten so we could see some very high scores at this ground.

RECOMMENDED BET:

The Zouks have done better than most people expected this season, including me. However this will be their biggest test to date. It was impressive that they were able to beat the Guyana Amazon Warriors in their last game; however they got to bat first in a late game where chasing has been a nightmare. That being said, they batted very well on a tricky wicket.

You’d have to say that Guyana haven’t been as strong this season as last, and Trinbago have the best bowling line-up in the tournament. They also have a very strong batting line-up and if you pick holes in The Zouks; you would say that their bowling has been “on the edge” of being poor and that their batting has pulled them through. With Narine in great form, he has win the game for Trinbago.

The Edge Says:
Two points win Trinbago Knight Riders to beat St Lucia Zouks at 1.69 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Based on yesterday’s games, we should see a very similar situation to the early games at the Brian Lara Stadium. A par score is probably 155 and if the chasing teams plays well they’ll get there and if they don’t then they won’t. Very straightforward. As a batting team, I would be aiming for 165+ and keen to bat first. Although both scores were chased yesterday, I would expect as the games go on here you’d want to bat first while the pitch is at its best. There should be plenty of trades as the chasing side struggles; but factor in batting is easier in the early game.

With Narine is excellent form, you’d have to expect him to cause massive trouble for The Zouks. I personally wouldn’t be against him in this form at any stage. I also like really the Trinbago tail – of course who wouldn’t with Pollard and Bravo – the Zouks bowling can be taken apart towards the end of the innings and if Trinbago did lose some early wickets – there could certainly be some excellent opportunities for a bounce back trade.
