MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have another action packed day at the Caribbean Premier League and we kick off the day with the St Lucia Zouks against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots! The Zouks were unable to get the better of the Trinbago Knight Riders yesterday but Trinbago have a very strong side and have been impressive in the tournament so far. St Kitts surprised me with a win over Barbados in the first game here and they’ll be hoping to back that up with another win here to try and get away from the bottom of the table.
We had rain in the early game yesterday and that has been a general worry for the early games. I would certainly chase if given the option and it’ll be very interesting to see what the captain that wins the toss does. The Zouks were 111/6 yesterday before the rain came after 17.1 overs. It’s difficult to know what kind of score they would have achieved with another three overs – but in general their batting has been pretty good. Sammy said afterwards to not let their heads go down, and those were wise words from the captain.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
As noted above, rain inferring at some stage in the early games has been a worry. We haven’t seen enough to suggest that we will lose a game though, and it’s just a case of keeping an eye on the radar.
At the moment it looks like Queen’s Park Oval is playing pretty similar to the Brian Lara Stadium. The early games have been better for batting than the late games, and it would have been interesting to see what the Zouks could have got with another three overs yesterday. I would suggest a par score is still 150 for the early game.
RECOMMENDED BET:
Before the tournament started, I didn’t like this Zouks squad at all but they have batted well. Playing in the early game is a clear positive when you have a strong batting line-up and while St Kitts surprisingly beat Barbados they still don’t impress me. Barbados only managed 151/7 in an early game which looked like par and Barbados didn’t bowl well. That being said, St Kitts batted well to win the game but I think the Zouks are the value at 1.9.
The sides met very recently at the Brian Lara Stadium where the Zouks batted first and won quite easily. They set a big score of 172 and St Kitts were never really in the game after that. The Zouks looks a better side on paper and they can win again.
The Edge Says:
Two points win St Lucia Zouks to beat St Kitts & Nevis Patriots at 1.9 with BETDAQ Sportsbook.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Given the bits of rain we have had in the early game, there should be a bit of radar watching here. Clearly a lot of in-running strategy will focus around the dynamic of how the game changes with conditions. So far the two short run chases have been successful and that trend should continue. If it’s difficult for batting the team batting first won’t set a high score and then the bowlers find it difficult to defend in a shortened game with a wet ball.
The Zouks openers have been in good form, and they are worth siding with for an early trade. Evin Lewis fired for St Kitts against Barbados and he made a bright start when the Zouks played St Kits recently. He is worth a momentum trade too if he starts well. The St Kitts bowlers were taken apart by the Zouks only a few days ago and with batting conditions a little better in the early game, something similar could happen today.
