MATCH OVERVIEW:
It’s Day Two at the IPL on Sunday and we move Dubai from Abu Dhabi. Dubai International Cricket Stadium is a very impressive venue to watch cricket at and we should have a cracking game. The boundaries are big, so it will be challenge to see sixes – however I’m sure we’ll see plenty given the quality in the sides.
We have a lot of stars on show today with the likes of Iyer, Rabada, Stoinis, Lamichhane, Inhant Sharma, Rahane, Ashwin and Dhawan in Delhi side. While we have Chris Jordan, Maxwell, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Chris Gayle in the Punjab side. To me the Punjab squad looks a little light when you compare it to the other IPL sides and it’ll be interesting to see how they get on. There’s no doubt that Gayle will win a game or two for them, but he’s just not consistent enough on the big stages these days.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
While we don’t have much IPL data to go off at Dubai we did see a lot of game here from the PSL (Pakistan Super League). You can take this with a pitch of salt because the world has changed a lot since with Covid19 and the break in cricket, but in general in the PSL we had slow pitches and spin came into the game a lot.
Ricky Ponting, coach at Delhi, said he expects some bounce at the start of the tournament and then the pitches to get slower and lower as the tournament goes on. That seems like a shrewd assessment, and I’d just allow the first three overs to see what conditions are like. We have no weather issues anyway.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I like Delhi here at 1.8. I really don’t like the look of the Punjab squad and think they will struggle in the tournament as a whole. I respect that Punjab have a few match winners in their team, but this is the IPL and every team has match winners. The Delhi squad looks very good this season with a lot of Indian Internationals. There doesn’t look to be many players in their XI just hanging on and I expect them to beat this Punjab side. At 1.8, they are a confident bet.
The Edge Says:
Three points win Delhi Capitals to beat Kings XI Punjab at 1.8 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
The first part of the in-running strategy will be to assess conditions here as it’s the first game at Dubai. I expect a good pitch to begin with and we might see it get tougher to bat a the tournament goes on. It’s fair to suggest that it’ll be at its best for batting today and for the next few games here. For Punjab, Gayle always take a few balls to “get in” and with some decent bowlers in the Delhi squad, you can definitely nick a few ticks there.
I like the Delhi middle order too, and they also have the likes of Ashwin who can hit a boundaries in the tail towards the end. Once the big name players get out for Punjab, I would totally be against them. Their squad lacks depth and we could see some collapses from them in this IPL. I would also look for trades when Delhi are batting as the Punjab bowling looks pretty weak.
