BOXING PREVIEW: We have a cracking line-up of heavyweight boxing over the next few months, and we kick it off with Oleksandr Usyk taking on Dereck Chisora.
This will be a massive test for the high class Usyk on only his second fight at heavyweight. He started his heavyweight career with a smooth win over Chazz Witherspoon, but this is a massive step up.
Usyk dominated the cruiserweight division, capping off an excellent career at that weight with an impressive win over Tony Bellew in 2018. That fight feels like a lifetime ago, as there has been a number of issues. Usyk has suffered with some injuries in camp, and then we had the worldwide COVID19 situation. You have to say create to both fighters here for taking the fight – as without a gate they had to accept a lower purse. It shows both fighters believe they can win, and we should have a cracking fight.
Chisora will be a handful for Usyk, and he is s value price at 6.4 on the BETDAQ Betting Exchange.. Chisora had two impressive fights against Dillian Whyte, although that’s going all the way back to 2016 for the first fight! He was winning the rematch in a very impressive performance at the end of 2018 before a massive knockout – with the referee possibly getting in his head.
It’s likely that he can overpower Usyk given the jump up to heavyweight, however we all know how easily Usyk can outbox anyone. Indeed, the headlines this week have been how Anthony Joshua is already preparing for Usyk in the future. There’s no getting away from the fact that Usyk can easily outbox Chisora, but with the heavyweight experience Chisora is worth a small investment at 6.4. The fight should be closer than those odds suggest, and Chisora could trade lower in-running as a trade too.
