BACK-TO-BACK NAPS FOR DAQMAN FROM A WINNING STREAK: Daqman got closer and closer yesterday .. Mabre (2ND 8-1), then Majestic Tejaan (2ND 16-1), beaten only a neck. Finally, he went clear in the last at Southwell, with probably the best price of them all for a near-five-lengths winner Artistic Streak (WON 5-4, nap). It was Daqman’s second nap in two days, both days in profit.

⭕ 2.15 Fairyhouse Chatham Street Lad went into the Fortune Cookies list after a remarkable win in the December Gold Cup at Cheltenham to land us a 16-1 strike and, I thought, put himself in line for the RSA at the festival.
This Grade A is a drop back in trip, but he was impressive enough when he landed a gamble over the minimum on his chasing debut in the Mallow at Cork in November.
After the race, trainer Mick Winters said of him: ‘He’s 134 over hurdles and that will be about his level over fences.’
Well Michael, your Lad is now on 151, just a couple of pounds behind last year’s mark for the RSA winner, Champ.
If that 17lb leap between his seeming potential and the reality check of that day in December at Cheltenham is any indication of his further improvement, then he has a champ of his own in his County Cork yard.
Winters has kept them all in the air! The novices’ chase and the Queen Mother Champion Chase on the Wednesday and the Golden Miller and Ryanair chases on the Thursday are also on the cards for Cheltenham.
His latest prediction is that this horse will be best at 3m. My view? I’ll take a big price wherever I see one for any race in which offers are available before this afternoon at Fairyhouse.
We must not forget, however, that in the race today Chatham Street Lad has to give weight to improving youth and lightweights.

DON’T LET 13.0 ‘GINGE’ BITE ME..
⭕ 3.00 Warwick (Classic Chase) I’ve been thrown off a horse, and had one run away with me, but the only time I had one turn round and bite me was figuratively when I’d backed it and then forgotten it next time out. Yes, it won, without me on it, in any sense of the word. At 40-1.
I put The Hollow Ginge up for the Coral Welsh Grand National and I was encouraged twice: before the race, trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies said he was too big a price for what he’d done.
Then, in the race itself, Ginge, who had stayed on, fourth, in the Ladbrokes Trophy in November, moved up close behind the leaders on the final circuit but unseated rider just when his name was being called in the order.
Blinkers are back on last year’s Classic runner-up, Captain Chaos, who lived up to his name in the autumn, with form ‘figures’ of PP0, but that’s dropped him to within 2lb of last year’s mark, He later won the Grimthorpe off the same rating.
Dual Becher Chase winner, Walk In The Mill, is another older horse. He’s struggled with his form away from Aintree.
Ballyoptic is also heading for the National, claimed off to try to offset some of his massive burden of 11st 12lb.
Achille, also 11 years old, has not been seen since November, 2019, and will surely need this run back.
Le Breuil was fifth last year, has had a wind op and has been dropped 8lb. He’s also spent his time trying to get on to the Aintree wagon, and needs to win this, or something else very soon, if he is to get in at Liverpool.
Django Django and Notachance were one-two at Newbury in January (3m), and Notachance had Coral Welsh Grand National runner-up, The Two Amigos, back in third at Bangor in November.
Storm Control has been winning lately but is not an improver, according to the ratings. He’s just 3lb higher than his mark of a year ago.
But the 3m 2f Cheltenham winner last month is only eight and todays’ trip could move him forward. His dam is a half-sister to the mighty stayer, Grey Abbey, winner of the 2004 Scottish Grand national.

⭕ 3.15 Market Rasen Willie Mullins reports better-than-expected passage from Ireland for Grangee, which is good news for Irish contenders at Cheltenham in March.
Grangee, impressive on the debut at Galway in October, bids to follow up last year’s win for the stable in this race.
Merry Mistress beat a subsequent winner at Hereford and could be the danger, along with Eileendover, twice successful over shorter.
Eileendover represents four-year-old fillies who have won this race for the last two seasons, taking advantage of their 11lb allowance. BETDAQ 3.5

⭕ 3.35 Warwick Only one winner of this Pertemps qualifier carried more than 11st; none were over the age of eight. Those are the nine-year stats, and I can’t see them being broken today.
Tobefair – now 11 and who won the race five years ago – is down to the mark of his qualifier success for the 2020 final at Cheltenham, in which he was sixth. He’d been second the year before.
This is part of the Aintree build-up of 2019 Coral Welsh Grand National winner, Potters Corner, who won a hurdle as a prep for that.
If the stats are to be satisfied, we are looking for an improver such as Come On Teddy (BETDAQ 6.9), winner of two out of three handicaps last year, which have put him up 12lb.
He was still only six last month when he beat On The Blind Side, Relkeel runner-up to McFabulous, and Unowhatimeanharry, the 2019 Punchestown Champion Stayer.
Imperial Alzacar and Kepagge (wind ops) have won only at the novice stage and have it to prove. Mr Harxp did prove it when he bolted up in his first handicap at Uttoxeter but looks very close in the weights to dour stayer, Potters Corner (10.0).
On The Blind Side (BETDAQ 2.5) could have boosted the Come On Teddy form in the 2.40 Market Rasen. He has the will to win, whereas his main rivals, Lil Rockerfeller (form figures 323-2) and Mohaayed (423) are bridesmaids.
