DERBY DAY AT EPSOM: SHAMROCK predicts another big race success for the Irish trained runners this afternoon.
After the freakish rain yesterday the sun is back at Epsom today which should ensure ground just on the soft side of good come post time at 4.30pm for the Cazoo Derby.
After Snowfall’s sensational 16 length romp over the Downs yesterday it’s fair to say we’ll see a more competitive Derby – but never say never of course when it comes to Aidan O’Brien.
Earlier in the week we got the surprising news that he will rely on just the one runner in the Derby – the ‘chosen one’ is Bolshoi Ballet who is the clear market leader on the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE but 2lb off fellow Irish raider Mac Swiney on official ratings.
Bolshoi Ballet has always been a talking horse but actions speak louder than words and we finally got a glimpse of his true ability last time out at Leopardstown where he romped to a six length success in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial Stakes.
He should have no trouble with the extra trip which he is bred for and the extraneous demands of Derby Day will be less again this year with the reduced crowds.
He looks a worthy favourite and can see off the unbeaten Hurricane Lane who won the Dante at York last time out and Mac Swiney who was fourth to him in the Derrinstown.
