SWITZERLAND V SPAIN

5pm After an incredible Round of 16, we reach the Quarter Final stage of Euro 2020! It’s fair to say we had some massive shocks in the Last 16, however we do have some very intriguing ties for the Quarter Finals! All matches are 0% Commission on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. We kick off the action with Switzerland taking on Spain. Switzerland won in dramatic fashion against France with the tournament favourites missing the last penalty for Switzerland to win 5-4. The 90 minutes was just as dramatic too, with France throwing away a 3-1 lead going into the last 10 minutes. Switzerland were a little lucky looking at the xG figures, but credit where credit is due – France gave them a chance and they took it. And let’s not forget that Spain nearly done the same thing as France! They had a 3-1 lead going into the last 10 minutes too, only to see the game finish 3-3 as well. They sorted things out in Extra Time however, and now they have a great chance to get to at least the Semi-Finals.

I have to say Switzerland looked pretty limited in the Group stage. They are a good side, but I didn’t see them getting a result against France. To be fair, France had the game won at 3-1 and threw it away. I know Spain did the same in their game against Croatia in normal time, but I can’t see lightening striking twice here. Spain have been one of the best teams in the tournament in my view, and their xG figures are very good. They have created 2.89, 3.18, 3.63 and 4.36. Those are incredible figures, and I’m not sure how Switzerland stop them scoring. They gave away 3.5 to France and 1.32 against Turkey which is worrying given how poor Turkey are. The 1.75 on Spain looks massive here and I’m happy to have a Max Bet at the odds.

BELGIUM V ITALY

8pm What a fixture! This is undoubtedly the highlight of the Quarter Finals, and what a route for Belgium if they are going to lift Euro 2020. Portugal, Italy, then possibly Spain and England. Winning would be an incredible achievement. They have the squad to beat all those teams too, although they did play pretty poorly against Portugal. I felt Portugal were the better side, they created a better xG figures and perhaps the jury is still out on Belgium in big games when the pressure is on. I can’t wait to see how they get on here. Italy are rightly favourites given the way they have played in the tournament to date – Belgium have kept things very tight at the back but Italy’s xG figures have been 2.03, 2.5, 2.26 and 2.24 so they will surely get chances here. Belgium have a fantastic squad on paper, but they have had two bad performances now. The first half against Denmark they were all over the place and I felt Portugal did enough to draw.

The big question mark over Italy is they have yet to meet a decent side. They played reasonably against Austria, but needed Extra Time to get the win and although I agree with them being favourites, I can’t make the case to back them at 2.48. It’s hard to see them being shorter. I expect another cagey game here – both sides kept things very tight in their Last 16 games and this will be a very tactical affair. Under 2.5 goals is a very tempting bet at 1.63 because I can see both sides being very cagey. I know Italy have created a lot of chances, but like I said they have yet to meet a top side. Even though I wouldn’t put anyone off unders, I’m going to take a chance with the draw here at 3.15. That looks the value call in a very tight game.
