THE HUNDRED 💯: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s Hundred format game between Manchester Originals v London Spirit with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Game 24 Manchester Originals v London Spirit

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The Hundred continues on Tuesday as London Spirit take on Manchester Originals. Shane Warne’s London Spirit are still searching for their first win after five games, although one game was washed out, it’s pretty clear now that London Spirit are the worst team in the competition. Their batting has been very poor, and if anything they seem to be getting worse as the weeks go by! In fairness on paper their batting looks very light anyway, they relied a huge amount on Eoin Morgan but he looks out of touch. Their other batters are decent at domestic level, but given the number of stars in this tournament they just aren’t up to this level.

Manchester Originals lost their last game to the weather, but thankfully they got some time in the middle because otherwise there would have been a pretty big gap between games for them – especially by this format standards! Unlike London Spirit, their batting has looked pretty impressive and their middle order looks great on paper. To have Munro, Ackermann and Brathwaite in a format like this can win you many games and the openers have been in good touch too. London Spirit need to improve a lot, otherwise this game will be one way traffic.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Manchester Originals were 98/3 here after 71 balls before the game was called off in the last game here, and prior to that we had a game totally washed out with the bad weather. At the moment, there’s a 40% chance of rain in Manchester on Tuesday but it’s also 20 degrees so it’s just a case of dodging the showers I feel. It’s definitely a game to keep the radar open! 98/3 after 71 balls would suggest we can see a reasonably good score here; although the London Spirit have been so bad with the bat it’s hard to know what is par with their batting.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We have had a lot of even games on paper in The Hundred, but the market on BETDAQ Betting Exchange is starting to price favourites now. Manchester are 1.78 here and although that is one of the shortest prices to date as we have been seeing prices close to 2.0, I still believe it’s good value against this poor London Spirit side. Because the market is just starting to make favourites now rather than having games even, I believe there is still plenty of value on offer. I’d have Manchester closer to 1.7 here given what we’ve saw from London Spirit so far.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

I have to say this could be a tricky game for in-running trading; but it could also be straightforward too. I’m expecting good batting conditions, so if Manchester Originals bat first then I’ll happily look for a trade on them. I don’t want to be on the London Spirit while batting, so if we do have good batting conditions and they bat first, the best play will be to sit on your hands until the second innings. The London Spirit bowling is reasonably, they have been losing most of their games with the bat to be honest so hopefully Manchester bat first and we can look for a trade on the batting side.
