SUNDAY IN EUROPE: Our football tipster The Ultra previews Sunday’s Bundelisga, La Liga and Ligue 1 top games all with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

UNION BERLIN V GLADBACH

2.30pm What a brilliant Sunday in Europe. We have some top class games in Europe today before we head into the International break. All eyes on BETDAQ Betting Exchange will be on PSG later to see if Messi finally makes his debut, but we start the day in the Bundesliga with Union Berlin hosting Gladbach. Both sides have had a less than ideal start to the season as they are both still searching for their first win. As I said in my Saturday preview though, it’s been a crazy start to the Bundesliga with only one side winning their first two games. Gladbach got their season off to a great start with an unexpected 1-1 draw with Bayern Munich but then they lost 4-0 to Bayer Leverkusen last weekend. They played much better than the result, but it’s still very disappointing to concede four goals.

Union Berlin are a rock solid side as we know, and they have started with two draws. Unlike Gladbach, they managed to hold Leverkusen a to draw in a pretty boring 1-1 to start the season, and then they were the better side in the 2-2 draw against Hoffenheim. It was nice to land a Hoffenheim lay at short odds last weekend, but we won’t be landing a short odds lay today as we have a very open market here. The two sides are both trading around the same price, and all three outcomes are close to 3.0. I’m a fan of both these sides and I like how they handle their business. Gladbach conceding so much does worry me however, and I’m happy to have a small investment on the draw here at 3.2 – I can’t see anything other than a very close game.

The Ultra Says:
One point win Draw at 3.2 with BETDAQ Exchange.

BARCELONA V GETAFE

4pm Next we move to La Liga for an unusual kick off time for Barcelona. They are used to being on a peak TV slot, and instead of them everyone will want to watch PSG later! Barcelona hit their first bump in the road last weekend since beginning life without Messi in a 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao. That was disappointing, but if you look a little deeper it’s more disappointing. They conceded an xG of 1.93 and only created 1.01, so they could have easily lost. I’ve said it before, but it’s those types of games that they really miss Messi. They miss that little bit of magic to break open a very close game. It’s still fascinating to watch them though and see how they cope without Messi this season. We probably won’t learn anything here though as they should easily beat Getafe.

The 1.42 on Barcelona probably looks a little big if anything. Getafe have started their season with two 1-0 losses against Valencia and Sevilla. They haven’t exactly created much, and it’s hard to see them outgunning Barcelona away from home. Barcelona put in a superb display in their first home game against Real Sociedad, and perhaps they will play better at home this season without Messi. They will only miss him in those tricky away situations or at home against the real top sides like Atletico and Real Madrid. I was expecting Barcelona to be closer to 1.33 here to beat an average side like Getafe – they scored five the last time the sides met – and I’m happy to keep things simple here and take the 1.42 rather than going with the handicap odds.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Barcelona to beat Getafe at 1.42 with BETDAQ Exchange.

REIMS V PSG

7.45pm All eyes on PSG! It seems highly likely, as I write this preview, that Messi will be “part of the squad” according to manager Mauricio Pochettino. Whether he starts or not is debatable, and it seems at the moment he will be named on the bench and come on towards the end of the game. Even with all the hype around Messi, it’s unlikely PSG will need him to beat a side like Reims anyway. PSG have started the season on fire with three wins and already had a two point lead after everyone played three games. They have scored ten goals in three games, including eight in their last two. It’s been nice to land our two bets on PSG over the last two weekends, and we can land another handicap bet here.

Reims have started with three draws; 0-0 against Nice, 3-3 against Montpellier and 1-1 against Metz. They haven’t created a lot – for example in the 0-0 draw against Nice they focused on being solid at the back but only managed an xG of 0.16 going forward. It’s highly likely we will see the same tactics here, but I can’t see how these mid-table French sides can stop PSG at the moment. Even if you take Messi out of the side, as he has created the most hype, without him they have an incredible side. They have moved well to make some great signings this summer. They can start fast here too, and the PSG/PSG Half-Time/Full-Time looks great value at 1.61. They are creating so many chances at the moment, I’m happy to get on them for an early goal.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win PSG/PSG Half-Time/Full-Time at 1.61 with BETDAQ Exchange.

ATLETICO MADRID V VILLARREAL

9pm We go back to La Liga to finish an excellent day with Atletico Madrid hosting Villarreal. Atletico haven’t exactly started the season on fire performance wise, but they have grinded out two wins and after two games, they were one of only two sides to win both their games. A nice two advantage over Real Madrid and Barcelona early – we saw last season how important a fast start to the season was for Atletico, and with Messi leaving Barcelona and Real Madrid having a lot of issues – they we know they have a fantastic chance to win another La Liga title. This should be an excellent game, especially for neutral fans, as Villarreal are a very tough side to beat. Villarreal started their season with two draws, probably a little worrying for them as they had too many draws last season too.

Villarreal need a spark to get their season going after two 0-0’s. In the 0-0 draw with Espanyol they only created an xG of 0.63 and were lucky to get a draw as they conceded an xG of 1.79. They can say they were unlucky not to beat Granada however in the first game as they created an xG of 1.45 in another 0-0 draw. Atletico haven’t been at their best in their opening two games, but I still feel they are worth backing at 1.84 here – I wouldn’t have them trading bigger than 1.8. I’m happy to keep stakes reasonably limited however, as I fully take on board Atletico haven’t been firing. Villarreal aren’t firing either however, and Atletico can grind out another win.

The Ultra Says:
Two points win Atletico Madrid to beat Villarreal at 1.84 with BETDAQ Exchange.
