FRIDAY IN EUROPE: Our football tipster The Ultra previews Friday’s games between BAYERN MUNICH v WOLFSBURG and CELTA VIGO v ESPANYOL both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
BAYERN MUNICH V WOLFSBURG
7.30pm The Bundesliga fixtures keep coming this week! After a full midweek fixture list, we kick off Friday night football with the Bundesliga as Bayern Munich host Wolfsburg. We also have one game from La Liga later on, as is our usual Friday night football on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! Nothing changed midweek for Bayern, an easy 5-0 win over Stuttgart saw them keep their six point advantage at the top of the table, and this seems an ideal time to play Wolfsburg who come into this game on a losing run. It looks like it will be a good Christmas for Bayern! The market agrees, with Bayern trading as short as 1.21 at the time of writing. You might feel like that’s a little short based on Wolfsburg finishing in the top four last season, but they have gone backwards this season. They just aren’t the same side, and they’re going to start the weekend sitting in 11th losing their last six games in all competitions.
The biggest issue for Wolfsburg seems to be at the back, which is no doubt music to every Bayern fans ears! Wolfsburg have recently conceded xG figures like 3.12, 1.6, 2.53, 1.46, 22.3 and 1.72. Those are exceptionally high – they have had a tough fixture list in Europe but domestically they have played Koln, Stuttgart and Mainz in that run – all three sides that Bayern would put to the sword. What can I say about Bayern other than they have been in incredible form for pretty much the whole season so far. They have earned their Christmas break and look like one of, if not the best, side in Europe right now. Their xG figures are incredible, and even in the games when they have had setbacks, they have been unlucky and created more chances than the other side. They arrive into the fixture creating a lot of chances and when you see what Wolfsburg are conceding I can only see one way traffic here. It’s just about how many goals Bayern score for me, and I like Any Other Home Win at 2.77 in the Correct Score market. Bayern can score four or more goals here.

CELTA VIGO V ESPANYOL
8pm We move to La Liga next to finish the evening as Celta Vigo host Espanyol. You could call this a classic mid table La Liga clash, but that would be quite generous towards Celta Vigo who are touch-and-go as to whether they are involved in the relegation battle at the moment. They are far too good to go down, but they have been a yo-yo club in recent years. They barely escaped going down in 2019/2020 when finishing in 17th, one point away from the bottom three, then they played remarkably well to finish 8th in 2020/21 and now they are sitting in 14th at the moment only four points away from the bottom three. There’s enough sides between themselves and the bottom three for them not to worry at the moment, but given a couple of sides have a game in hand below them they just need a win or two over the next few weeks to get away from the danger zone. The market believes this is a good opportunity for them to bag three points, with the home side trading 2.06. On first look this might appear too short when you look at the table, but when you look at the underlining numbers it doesn’t seem short at all.
Celta Vigo fans will say that they have been unlucky at times, but the xG slope graph basically doesn’t move them up the table much. We can understand the prices here by looking at the movement on Espanyol, on the xG table they drop below Celta Vigo which is a clear sign that they haven’t been playing as well as their results suggest. They look comfortable in 9th position, but they have had some lucky wins. Some recent examples include the 1-0 win over Real Sociedad when they conceded an xG of over double what they created, and they also conceded an xG of 2.52 in a 2-0 win over Granada. I feel home advantage will also have a big impact here, as Espanyol have yet to win away this season in La Liga. Everything points to a home win here when you look at the data, and I’m happy to take the 2.06.
The Ultra Says:
Three points win Celta Vigo to beat Espanyol at 2.06 with BETDAQ Exchange.
