7.45pm We have midweek Premier League action to enjoy on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this week as we try to catch up on some fixtures missed due to the Covid19 outbreak around Christmas. We start on Tuesday with Southampton hosting Brentford, we were supposed to have Everton hosting Leicester later in the evening however that was postponed due to Leicester not having enough players available to fulfil the fixture.
Both these sides recorded wins in the FA Cup at the weekend, and although it was against lower league opposition, it would have been a nice confidence booster. Both sides are sitting comfortably in the top half of the bottom half of the table with no danger of relegation, so an FA Cup run would be a nice boost to their seasons and give the fans a bit of a buzz. There’s only two points between them in the table, with Brentford enjoying a very nice start to life in the Premier League this season and sitting ahead of Southampton. I have to say I was surprised to see Southampton as short as 2.08 when I clicked into the market here.
I know Southampton come into the game in great form, and they do have home advantage, however Brentford have impressed me this season and I just expected Southampton to be a little higher. While they have beaten West Ham and drawn with Spurs recently, they were lucky twice. West Ham created a higher xG figure and Spurs absolutely bossed the game and were unlucky to draw – they finished with an xG of 2.90 compared to Southampton’s 0.43.
I fully accept the fact that Brentford are a better side at home, and they actually haven’t won away from home in the Premier League since the start of October but they have picked up their fair share of draws. Southampton aren’t a side that can blow sides away, and they will have to grind out a win here. With Brentford usually creating a decent amount of chances, I feel that they can get a result here. I agree with the market in the sense that Southampton deserve to be favourites, but not this short and the 2.08 looks a very good value lay.
