IPL: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s IPL game between Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rajasthan Royals with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rajasthan Royals
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We move to Pune for the first time in the 2022 IPL on Tuesday as Sunrisers Hyderabad take on the Rajasthan Royals. Both these sides will be hoping to bounce back from a horrible IPL last year when they finished second last and last. It was particularly bad for Sunrisers Hyderabad as they were a distant last for most of the tournament. Their captain David Warner was dropped and it just looked like there was a number of issues behind the scenes. It was a different story for Rajasthan Royals who were basically left with the bare bones of a team after their star players got injured or opted out of returning when the tournament was postponed due to Covid19.
Both sides will be hoping for a fresh start, and we should have another close game on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. Both sides obviously have a number of questions to answer heading into this season. Jos Buttler is the star man for Rajasthan Royals, but where does he bat? They have added an opening batsman but to be honest Buttler needs to bat as long as possible, so maybe he moves to three? Their Royals batting does look interesting this season, the middle-order looks like it will have a lot of hitters.
I know Sunrisers Hyderabad were the worst side in the tournament last season so this isn’t a ground breaking opinion, but I can see them really struggling again. They’re saying their squad has “flexibility” but is that just a buzz word for nobody really stands out for each position or role within the team? The jury is definitely out!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
All of the opening games have been around Mumbai and most of the whole IPL will take place in Mumbai this season. We do have a nice break in Pune though, and this is the opening game of the season. Obviously we’ve had a big gap in the schedule because of Covid19, but we do have ground history here. This was the home of CSK when they couldn’t use Chennai in 2018 and the average score batting first was 174 with the scoring quite high. We also had the Rising Pune Supergiants (remember that team too!) as a home team here in 2017 and the average score was 163. It’s been a few years since we had IPL action here, but I’d expect pretty similar scoring – let’s wait and see though.
RECOMMENDED BET:
This is another game where both sides have a number of questions to answer. The IPL starting schedule has actually be very good this season with a lot of even games in the opening week. It’s no surprise that we have Rajasthan as favourites here given how poor the Sunrisers were last season. I fully agree with the market that Rajasthan Royals should be the favourites, and they look like the better team to me. I’m happy to have a small investment on them at 1.74. Once again I feel this is a game for small stakes as we start the tournament, but I can see Sunrisers really struggling again this season.
The Edge Says:
One point win Rajasthan Royals to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad at 1.74 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
There’s a huge amount of questions about both teams here. As I said above, Sunrisers Hyderabad are using “flexibility” as their buzz word but that basically means they don’t know who is batting where. I can see them changing a lot during the season and moving players around, so they might be a tricky team to trade from that point of view. You’ll definitely have to react to their decisions on the field. From a Rajasthan point of view, their middle order looks power-packed but they can also be hit-and-miss. Buttler opening the batting would be a huge positive for me, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a reasonably big score (175+) if Rajasthan bat first.
