TUESDAY LA LIGA: The Ultra previews Tuesday’s games between VALENCIA v REAL BETIS and BARCELONA v CELTA VIGO including a recommended BETDAQ bet.

VALENCIA V REAL BETIS

6pm It’s been a hectic run in Europe with the Champions League and Europa League over the last few weeks, and some European leagues are racing to finish the season. We have a busy mid-week fixture list in La Liga before we head to the final two rounds of fixtures over the next two weekends. While we might not be able to beat the drama last week on BETDAQ Betting Exchange, we have plenty of interesting markets to look at this week. We start the action with a replay of the Copa Del Rey Final as Valencia hosting Real Betis. It wasn’t a good weekend for Real Betis as the gap to Atletico Madrid was extended to six points as they lost to Barcelona. It was always going to be a huge ask for Real Betis to beat Barcelona and hang on in the top four race but it wasn’t to be. After Atletico Madrid beat Real Madrid on Sunday evening too it looks like their chance is gone now. That being said, they just have to win their last three games of the season and see what happens – nothing is impossible in football, but this does look very close to impossible! Valencia are having a poor finish to the season – it’s been only one win in their last eight games and they also lost the Copa Del Rey Final to Real Betis!

There wasn’t much between the sides in that game, and on reflection you could easily suggest that the Copa Del Rey took their eyes away from La Liga too. That is understandable given a trophy would have been huge for both sides, and it’s not like Valencia could achieve anything in La Liga anyway as they were sitting in mid-table. It’s fair to say that Real Betis haven’t been at their best recently. They started the season on fire and basically held onto their top four spot for as long as possible. When Atletico Madrid beat them things were starting to go badly and they haven’t put in too many impressive performances since. From that point of view, I would usually be keen to take on Betis however I don’t see much coming from Valencia at the moment. Their recent xG figures have been 0.17, 0.67, 0.34, 1.32, 0.53 and 0.21. There isn’t much to write about there and they are clearly struggling at the moment. I think both teams are actually struggling, and under 2.5 goals looks a good play here at 1.91. Real Betis have had two 0-0’s from their last four games, and we won’t see Valencia create a lot here. I actually wouldn’t be surprised to see another 0-0, but unders looks a great option with both sides struggling up front.

BARCELONA V CELTA VIGO

8.30pm Barcelona are also in action tonight as they host Celta Vigo. I had a lot of question marks about Barcelona heading into their tie at the weekend against Real Betis, but to be fair to them they were the better side and grinded out a deserved 2-1 win. Of course Barcelona are going to have a lot of issues given all the changes they have had this season, but it is interesting nonetheless to see Xavi try to navigate through his first rough patch as manager. When he took charge things changed very quickly and Barcelona were playing some superb football and shooting up the table, but they put in a strange performance in the Europa League and then were dropping points in La Liga too. I know this is easier said than done, but they really could have won the Europa League in my opinion – it would have been a nice boost. I know it was almost like they were offended to be in the competition, but how long will it take before they are back winning La Liga or the Champions League? I think they are miles off that at the moment. Their fans will already be looking forward to next season and what that could bring, but they will need a fast start after this season – Real Madrid lost at the weekend and they are still 12 points ahead! I have said this a few times this season but backing Barcelona at the moment is all about picking the right times, and I feel this isn’t a good time because the 1.43 looks a little short here.

Celta Vigo are your classic mid-table La Liga side, but they can give the top sides a good game over 90 minutes. I just can’t make the case that Barcelona should be shorter here, and indeed it’s hard to argue that they should be as short as 1.43 too. Celta Vigo have put in two nice performances back-to-back with xG figures of 2.92 and 1.53. I know the quality of opposition was far lower than Barcelona, but they gave Real Madrid a decent game not to long ago. Barcelona haven’t been creating a huge amount recently and they have suffered two recent losses here against Rayo Vallecano and Cadiz. Usually we see xG figures of over 2.0 from Barcelona but that hasn’t been the case. Much like the Real Madrid game against Celta Vigo, it’s hard to see Celta getting a result. More likely is a small win for Barcelona in a close game, and I feel the option here is Celta Vigo with the 1.5 goal handicap. 1.83 looks a nice price and is worth backing, but I would keep stakes limited on this game.
