107 EMILY UPJOHN (Sea The Stars out of a Barathea mare) Musidora winner I’ve given her the same rating as Enable at this stage. She will go to Epsom this week to check her out on the track for the Oaks (John and Thady Gosden, 3yof)
107 TOY (unplaced) Hit a flat spot, ran on well, in yesterday’s French 1,000 Guineas. That works out as a good trial for the French Oaks.
107 WITH THE MOONLIGHT Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.
104 HIGHFIELD PRINCESS (Night Of Thunder out of a Danehill mare, 5yom)
Powered away with a Group 2 at York last week and looks flexible at 6f or 7f for Royal Ascot (John Quinn)
101 LAMPANG Laid out for the Ayr Gold Cup
097 JUST FINE (Sea The Stars out of a Kingmambo mare) The Queen’s summer celebrations could include this 4yo gelding in a good handicap (Sir Michael Stoute)
082 LIR SPECIALE (Prince Of Lir out of a Naaqoos mare) Reportedly something special at home; lugging into the pack, badly drawn wide at Newmarket last week (Roger Varian, 3c)

MARMALAID SPREAD THIN

⭕ 1.45 Ffos Las There’s been plenty of debate about ‘VFM’ at the racecourse recently. Value For Money in terms of what the paying racegoer gets and why crowds have dwindled post pandemic – in some cases quite alarmingly at the bigger meetings of Newmarket and York.

It’s not just the big meetings though – it’s the quieter midweek ones that demand the whole question of the funding model needs looking at urgently.

And it doesn’t get much quieter than today’s Ffos Las card …. 35 runners across 7 jumps races and we can’t blame the ground as the course have produced ‘good’ ground.

There’s only really six races that punters can reasonably look at. The opener should be a stroll for the Paul Nicholls trained Wild Max who won a similarly weakly contested event at Newton Abbot last time out.

Despite my negativity about the card in general it does throw up a bet in the 1.45 novice hurdle.

Marmalaid showed enough on debut at Uttoxeter last season to suggest she can land this. In all honesty she doesn’t need to be much to win this and proved at Uttoxeter she has ability when finishing fifth to Corey’s Courage.

Whilst she only beat one home that day (beaten eight lengths) – the front four have ALL won again since and the form might well be a great deal better than it looked at the time.

The downside is that she disappointed subsequently at Exeter but it’s quite possible the soft ground went against her (it was good at Uttoxeter).

Chief BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE rival today is Becky The Boo whose form this year has really tailed off (pulled up last time out at Exeter) so it needs a big leap of faith to think she can return to form even good enough to land this modest heat.

LORD AT WINDSOR

⭕ 6.10 Windsor A competitive Listed event over six furlongs in which Lord Of The Lodge looks the safest proposition.

Most of his recent form has come on the all-weather but he’s useful on turf too and is the best horse in the race based on official ratings.

Clifford Lee has a 1 from 2 strike-rate on him – the defeat came over in Meydan where he found a Group 3 too hot.

DREAM IS ON

⭕ 8.20 Leicester Rich Dream can send punters at Leicester home happy.

The Ed Bethell trained runner should be fully tuned up for this after his comeback effort (193 day break) at Nottingham where he shaped well enough.

He remains lightly raced and less exposed compared to his three rivals.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
