WEEK AHEAD: The start of the French Open tennis, the Champions League Final are the two major headlines of another busy sporting week.
MONDAY
Action on the clay of Roland Garros gets the week going, as the French Open begins. On Monday, last year’s women’s champion Barbora Krejčíková begins her title defence, while in the men’s singles world number two Daniil Medvedev is in action. Play from the first week is live everyday, from 10:30 on Eurosport.
TUESDAY
Catch the remainder of round one at the French Open from 10:30 (Eurosport) on Tuesday morning. Indian Premier League leaders, Gujarat Titans, have already confirmed their place in the play-offs (15:00, Sky Sports), with their opponent still to be confirmed.
WEDNESDAY
Wednesday sees the French Open second round begin (10:30, Eurosport). There’s another play-off in the IPL at 15:00 on Sky Sports. In the evening there’s the Europa Conference League final, with Jose Mourinho’s Roma side facing Dutch Eredivisie third-placed Feyenoord at 20:00, live on BT Sport.
THURSDAY
On Thursday, the action from French Open in Paris continues from 10:30 (Eurosport), before the Dutch Open golf gets underway at 12:30 (Sky Sports), with the opening round from the PGA Tour’s Charles Schwab Challenge following at 13:15 (Sky Sports). This is the final night of Premier League Darts before the play-off and those still fighting for a spot in the last four will need to be at their best in Newcastle (19:00, Sky Sports).
FRIDAY
Friday brings a similar schedule with French Open tennis from 10:30 (Eurosport), followed by the second rounds of the Dutch Open and Charles Schwab Challenge golf from 12:30 and 13:15 respectively (both Sky Sports). At 15:00 on Sky Sports, there’s the final IPL play-off.
SATURDAY
There’s something for everyone on Saturday, with French Open tennis (10:30, Eurosport), golf from the third rounds of the Dutch Open and Charles Schwab Challenge (12:30 and 14:00, Sky Sports), before Leinster face La Rochelle, in European club rugby’s premier event, the European Champions Cup final at 16:45 on BT Sport. The Irish side have won four Champions Cups to date and victory would mean they would equal Toulouse’s record of five wins in the competition. Their opponents, La Rochelle, will be hoping to atone for defeat in last year’s final, but Leinster have the advantage of a home crowd, with the final taking place at Landsdowne Road in Dublin. Liverpool fans will only have one event on their minds on Saturday as their side takes on Spanish champions Real Madrid in the Champions League final, live from 20:00 on BT Sport. Victory over Real would cap a remarkable season for Jurgen Klopp’s team. Having lost to the Spanish side in the 2018 final, Liverpool will see this as a chance for revenge. It won’t be easy however, and as Real showed against Manchester City in the semi-finals, they can never be written off.
SUNDAY
On Sunday, the competition will be heating up on the clay at Roland Garros, as the French Open fourth round begins, and the big guns begin to look ahead to the following week. Tune in to Eurosport to catch the action from 10:30. Sky Sports is the place to be for live golf, with the final rounds from the Dutch Open and Charles Schwab Challenge beginning from 12:30 and 13:30 respectively. Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc lock horns once again around the tight turns of Monaco’s streets in the Monaco Grand Prix (14:00, Sky Sports). Then there’s the final of the IPL at 15:00 on Sky Sports. A lucrative place in the Premier League is up for grabs for either Huddersfield or Nottingham Forest as they contest the Championship Play-Off Final at 16:30 (Sky Sports).
