DAQMAN LEADING PRICEWISE 40-28: Daqman looks at St Leger potential today at Newbury, Newmarket and The Curragh, where he naps a forgotten Derby hope to come back to form. He has two bets in the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon, both bull’s-eye targets to win 50 points. He leads Pricewise 40-28 in the hunt for value.

⭕ 2.10 Newmarket Frankie Dettori is back for Team Gosden on Atlantis here, after the grey Sea The Stars filly won very easily at Doncaster, dropped to class 4.
But I’m not sure about the step up in class and trip and Australian Angel may be underrated on her Sandown success over the 1m 6f. She gets 11lb from Atlantis, and was 4.1 on Betdaq Betting Exchange this morning.
Australian Angel’s dam is half-sister to Gold Cup and Irish St leger winner, Order Of St George, three times winner of today’s St Leger Trial at the Curragh.
⭕ 4.40 The Curragh (Irish St Leger Trial) Temple Of Artemis, once reckoned a Derby colt by Aidan O’Brien, has moved to son Joseph with the Melbourne Cup in mind.
Though he strolled up at Chester in the Spring, he has been kept fresh for the autumn scene and could now start to show his true worth today: 4.4 on BETDAQ.
In addition to red flags against Raise You (often a slow starter) and dual Irish St Leger winner (in 2019 and 2020) Search For A Song – stable in dire form (1-17) – they must give 11lb and 8lb respectively in age allowance.
OUTBOX COULD TRY TO MAKE ALL
⭕ 2.30 Newbury (Geoffrey Freer Stakes) Horses aged 3 and 4 win this between them a total of 80% of the time but depend entirely on Zechariah today.
He was agonisingly headed only in the final stride in the Queen’s Vase but was stone last in both his Classic trials and the Royal Ascot form has not worked out.
I fancy Hollie Doyle for an enterprising ride on Outbox. Trying to make all in the Silver Cup at York last July, he was outpointed less than a couple of lengths by Hukum.
Hukum went on to complete back-to-back wins in this Geoffrey Freer, and has gone on to great things, including hammering Pyledriver in the Coronation Cup at Epsom in June.
Outbox switches from blinkers to last year’s successful cheekpieces and is 6.2 on BETDAQ to regain his old form. Zechariah (2.58 offers) gets 10lb weight for age and must win this to go for the St Leger.
CHOICE BETDAQ OFFERS OF 18.5
⭕ 2.50 Ripon (Great St Wilfrid Handicap) STATS: Winners by stall in the last six seasons have been 13, 10, 19, 15, 17, 19.
LAYS LOGIC: Summerghand, close fifth in the Wokingham and a gamble for this last night, has dropped 13lb in the handicap since last autumn, but comes out of stall 3 today.
Blackrod, who was seventh in the Wokingham, won the apprentices’ sprint on next week’s York card in 2021. Has to cope with the one stall.
RIPON FORM: There are four declared who know the Ripon track well: Fortamour, Justanotherbottle, Intrinsic Bond and Mark’s Choice.
Fortamour Ripon form 331114 but no class-2 win anywhere for nearly two years. Drawn 11.
Justanotherbottle (stall 10) Track record-holder, he is 3-3 at Ripon including this race last year (out of gate 19), when Intrinsic Bond (out of 20; now in 6) was fourth; Embour sixth.
It’s tight now between Justanotherbottle and Emperor Spirit after their one-two here in June.
Intrinsic Bond, now 20lb better off with Justanotherbottle, races from stall 6 today, but will relish the challenge: Ripon form 242400020. Scored at Thirsk the last day over the minimum.
Mark’s Choice Ripon form 3011431134121043, all for two previous trainers. Drawn 12. Wind op, visored first time and claimed off 7lb.
Snash is a big danger at 10.5 (in from 14-1): a winner off 3lb higher on AW, carried 9st 13lb when winning the Ayr Gold Cup Trial against 8st 7lb today from stall 14.
BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE 10.5 Snash, 18.5 Mark’s Choice
CHINDIT IS CLASSY AT NEWBURY
⭕ 3.35 Newbury (Hungerford Stakes) STATS: Winners of this 7f Group 2 have been five or older only six times in 44 years, yet it was a six-year-old who broke the mould in 2020 as the only favourite to score in the decade.
Four-year-olds are currently 6-out-of-9, and the Summer Mile winner at Ascot in July, Chindit, was 4-wins-out-of-5 over 7f as a two-year-old and into his second season, when he won the Greenham here at Newbury.
It’s never easy to be confident in a Richard Hannon horse, his strike rate is overall so low and his pre-announced big-race fireworks too often damp squibs.
But, after Chindit, the next likely lass on the stats is another Hannon, Happy Romance. Pat Dobbs is on Chindit, Hollie Doyle on Happy Romance, another course winner for the yard but over 6f (her 7f form is modest).
A three-year-old won it last year for William Haggas and Tom Marquand (first winner in the decade from a double-figure stall) and they could have another rivercard in Tiber Flow.
Tiber Flow has shot up 18lb in the ratings from a class-3 at Southwell in March, through a class-2 and then a Listed, finally close up, ninth, in the Commonwealth Cup (Group 1), but his best form is at 6f.
And he is still rated 3lb behind Dubai Poet, who was a winner here at Newbury, then third to Coroebus, in the Spring. Third in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, keeping on well, but not with any inspiring horses around him.
My guess is that Pogo (Group-3 x 7f double this year) will lead Chindit, who is 5.7 on BETDAQ this morning, with Dubai Poet 9.2.
⭕ 4.28 Newmarket This five-horse tactical sprint is not what I had in mind when I listed Stone Of Destiny a ‘hidden horse’ after Goodwood, where he was repeatedly hampered in the Stewards Sprint. But I think he will be a big price in a big field later on, even if he wins this at BETDAQ 4.9.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
